Finally managed to get my car into limp mode (unintentionally, of course!). Was ‘trying out’ a Autel DS808 scanner to see if it would do a throttle relearn procedure. It connected fine. Gave me the option to do a relearn. When I clicked on that option, it tried actuating the throttle (I could hear clicks) but ended up giving an error that it could not communicate to it. I tried it a few times and gave up.
Then I went to start the car to make sure I had not messed anything up in the process. The car turns, but MIL comes on and nothing happens when I press the gas pedal. The codes are P2166 and P2167.
Anyone ever come across this issue? Any solutions other than towing it to the dealer? Any help is appreciated.
PS- This experiment with the scanner was to prep me for the Mopar ECU I would be installing in it soon. I wanted to see if this scanner would give me the option to do a relearn. Lesson learned- do not experiment on the stock ECU. 😬
PPS- I got a guy coming with a higher end scanner that (per Autel’s tech support) has the ability to program ECUs on these vehicles. Would definitely be cheaper than the dealer if it does get fixed.

Good luck...I have a feeling Autel's tech support doesn't understand that the Gen 4 Viper PCM is unique to this platform, and has very little in the way of aftermarket support.

I'm guessing you'll need a tow to the dealer.

Darn! Well, if my buddy cannot fix it with their top of the line scanner tomorrow then tow it is!

That's frustrating ... Sorry to hear it. The joys of experimenting - Bitten almost all of us a time or ten!

It’s all good. I will chalk this up as a paid class in ECU tinkering. Lol

Update- the guy with the high end Autel and SnapOn scanners couldnt get it to work either. Same error of not being able to communicate.
Got the Arrow PCM in the mail. Just because it was a ‘used’ PCM, it already had the throttle settings in it from another Viper. Installed it and everything runs well enough for me to take it to the dealer and get both programed. Appreciate the help, fellas.
