On a serious note, I (and several others) agree that speedy and simple access to the battery is a safety issue. Trying to remove the stock cover that requires a Torx 27 and a ratchet or electric drill is slow enough when planned electively ..let alone emergently such as in a wreck. For these very reasons, Doug Shelby Engineering developed a very sturdy and clever solution in the form of a new cover, a nonconductive finish, quick disconnect fasteners, and a bracket for a charger connection.

How about not using the cover at all?

One needs something to seal off the trunk/storage area from the battery terminals AND from the elements splashed up from underneath the car.
