Every time I go to get gas it takes about 8-10 minutes to fill up the gas tank as the nozzle keeps turning off! I live in NJ and the law is that gas stations are not allowed to let you gas your own car, but a BP I have got to know well let's me pump my own gas. However, the owner is getting ticked off at me with the Viper. Any solutions for this?

On a side note, I painted the EZ-Pass black and it's a perfect fit with a little Velcro on the plastic "thingy" behind the rear view mirror!

use the pump upside down some times that helps, also I never let the car get under a 1/4 tank i find it fills up easier if it has gas in it.

+1 for Upside down. It looks weird but it works brilliant.

And New Jersey needs to get with the times. I will run on fumes to get through there just so I can pump my own gas.

I will definitely try the upside down trick (at least the BP station I go to does not have that funky "massive" rubber boot on the nozzle).

It pretty much doesn't matter how full or empty the tank is, it just takes forever and I hate to get kicked out of this BP!

Is moving an option?

Once you pull up to the pump and turn the car off; try then cycling the ignition to the accessory position again and leave there fir about 5 sec and then back to the off position and see if that helps

I have been doing the upside down or 11 O’clock position since Gen 3. At the 6 O’clock position it is helpless.

Fastest pump in my town is a BP and really good price. Guy said "Why is it always these shit dodges can't pump gas", upside down trick works.

I will give this a shot too, but generally I cycle the ignition to accessory to see how full the tank is! Going forward I'll track it a bit better to see if it helps.

You must have those vapor recovery nozzles. Up here in Mass, we don’t have those and no issues filling up the Viper. I just wish the tank was bigger so I could go more than 150 miles at a time.

Some have had an issue with a melted/collapsed vent tube; but, generally related to aftermarket header heat. https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/16347-Refueling-issues

This particular BP doesn't have those rubber boots over the nozzle, that's why I go there. Those rubber boots have caused the nozzle to "jump" out of the car on a few of occasions spraying gas everywhere! I either refuse to gas in those stations or will stand there and physically hold the nozzle in!

I agree with you on the range. I get about 160 out of a tank!

So far gas has not burped back out, but a lot of good information in that thread. When I go in for the next service at my independent shop I'll have them check the plastic vent hole and just change it for rubber and run it away from the headers.

Really easy to check yourself. Just open hood, get a flashlight and look down below fuse box. You'll see a black plastic line about 1/2 in diameter run your fingers over it back to front. You'll feel it if it is melted. If melted open there is no problem filling tank. If melted closed tank won't vent and it will be almost impossible to fill tank. If melted, cut it and use 1/2 gas line to reroute it behind fuse box and away from exhaust.

Even stock cars without headers have melted the line. I check mine often.
