Hello all, so I’ve owned my 2014 viper gts for about a month now and must say so far I love the vehicle. I know our engines were cursed with the possible oil consumption issues. My r28/r29 recalls were completed before I purchased the vehicle however I still would like some piece of mind. From what I’ve been told the car has. 5 year/100k warranty left on it from dodge. Based on that I think I’m done soon. My question is what’s the best way of finding out exactly how much time I have left, would it be worth calling any dealer and asking?
Also do you guys recommend purchasing an extended warranty from Chrysler?
Last thing I wanted to mention is although my car is a 14, it was sold from the dealership in April of 2015 with 300 miles on it. Based on this would the warranty have started when it was first sold?

Warranty should start from the date of sale.

Correct, warranty starts on in service date, which is date of sale from new. If your going to keep it and not mod it, service contract is good idea. Have the dealer run the Vin. FCA might have upgraded your warranty to 10 year.

only buy the extended warranty if you plan on keeping it stock. Buy an extended warranty way cheaper from user "ClayR"....its still a dodge warranty...just not marked up to death.

I'm modified and the warranty has paid for various power train components, it comes down to if your modifications were the cause.

I've Also always heard that IF you're going to do ANY Mods that the Bumper to Bumper Warranty will Not cover it! I've heard they've gotten VERY Strict on even the Basic Mods! I'm interested, WHO did you get your extended warranty from?

I bought my viper's warranty through Zegilar cause I couldn't remember who here sold them. It's Mopar Max Care. All my vehicles are modded and have Mopar Max Care.

Appreciate the feedback guys, I’ll look into Mopar max care. I honestly don’t intend on doing any mods so in my case I think it’ll be worth it.

I wasn't one to usually buy extended warranties before, but with the Gen 5 being as complicated as most other modern vehicles, it makes sense. Even if your power train proves to be flawless, a repair to a couple door modules and an infotainment unit would pay for the warranty.....

Extended warranties are usually always a waste of money which is why they sell them. With that being said, if you own a hand made exotic car like the viper it's a great investment.
