Hit a very large raccoon a little while ago going about 80mph.
(I think he actually committed suicide)
Anyway, it broke the center of the bumper/fascia.. and broke both fog lights. There is a gap issue also (maybe something is bent behind the bumper) where the bumper meets the hood.
So here's the fun part.
I have to take it to the claims inspector for an estimate next week.
Anybody wanna guess as to how much it's going to be ?

Sorry the front is covered in bugs...I live on the lake.

This isn't funny.
I've been dealing with it's family, and the lawyers they've hired. I may hafta go into witness protection. It seems like they are all related everywhere, and are making an example out of me.

Look man, this is on you. You should have thought it out. Any animal that wears a mask around its eyes, is clearly up to no good. They all have ties to "the family". I wish you the best of luck.

Fascia $600
Foam insert in the T $100
Paint and installation $300
Fog lights $150 each

Dealing with the crappy job the shop will likely do and how many times you will tweak on it... priceless

I'm going to bet it's double that.
We'll see tho.

The prices as I stated them are based on current market parts prices and historical shop rates. Granted, it could vary some, but if what you are quoted is double, you are getting hosed.

I don't know if most of you guys are aware of this... but my insurance is paying for it (minus my deductible). The insurance company doesn't raise your rate if you hit an animal. I didn't know this and was going to pay for it myself, until I called. Just an FYI.
That being said...I could care less what they quote me.
You could be right Dave... we'll see.

*On another note: In New York State (maybe others too) the law says that you have UP TO 6 YEARS after you report the claim, to have the vehicle damage inspected by one of the insurance companies estimators. I couldn't believe it...but apparently it's true.
Just thought it was a weird law.

I think the key was you hit the animal vs avoiding/missing the animal and hitting a tree. Not in the insurance biz, but I think that's the difference between comprehensive and collision. ACR Steve??
