Halfway thru filming the whole car. Didn’t ceramic first because it makes body slick to apply film.

Is there any advantage to applying ceramic over the film or are are you just polishing film ? Does it make it shinier ? Thoughts welcome.

I did ceramic over Xpel Ultimate. Not sure about the shine as I never saw the Xpel without the ceramic coating. But it does make it slick and easy to clean.

Xpel without ceramic.. After 4yrs+ still looks showroom with 5k miles. Meguiars detail spray after ever drive. Wash & wax(meguiars) once a year, including wheels. Badass, Drummerviper! Good luck, Greg

Every paint protection film is notably softer than paint. So I had my film ceramic coated as soon as it was applied, to give it a hard shell coating. It reduces the chance of scratches and stains and helps the film resist dulling over time. Plus, it makes cleanup after a drive so much easier. And the shine is amazing, even after 3 years in my case.

You won't regret doing the ceramic. And sorry to chime in so late but... wow... incredible car!!! Enjoy!!! Canada is measurably worse now that we sent you your ride.

We have done a ton of ceramic coatings over Xpel and the result is quite dramatic ( imho ) . Considering the beautiful machine you just got, it would be one of my personal priorities if I owned that sexy beast!

Ceramic over Film as the properties for the coating VS the adhesive on the film can cause a reaction.

Did Opti-Coat over Suntek (entire car) right after getting the car 2 years ago. Looks as awesome today as it first did.

Just make sure you ask the ceramic installer if they're familiar with coating over wraps or not. I talked to the guy who did mine quite a bit, and he told me that the wraps are MUCH more porous than paint, so they have to use a special type of ceramic coating that is well suited to a wrap for best results. All of them will help to shed water, make cleanup easier, etc., but if you get the kind that is designed to "soak in" to a more porous surface, the results will be better.

While they're at it, make sure you get your wheels and calipers ceramic coated. That makes a huge difference in keeping those clean.

Can xpel be applied over the couple inch wide decal stripe running through the black in the center of the car on an ‘09 ACR?

I am original poster. I have come to find ceramic over x Pell is definitely the way to go. Makes surface very smooth and easy to wash. This is the latest one of mine with both and every inch is filmed.

What do you detail the car with if it's been ceramic coated. Just water in a spray bottle?

I use Reload. Specifically for ceramic coatings.

Opti coat no rinse is a must for me in keeping my cars clean and shiny. Hyperseal is also a great finishing product after No rinse.

Agree with BBlue..............we have used the same guys he does and the results are spectacular in my estimation. Bruce keeps all his cars super spotless, so this just cuts down on his cleaning time, ha!!

Aerolon Tech Shine or even Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax also work very well and are cost effective.
