So In the UK Sunday 16th We did a tribute to the Bandit We spent the whole day on the London Orbital Motorway with a Bandit Convoy, we stopped at every Motorway service station on the way around.

Bless you all for participating. I had no idea that there would be that many musclecars in England. And I was even more shocked at the number of American branded Tractor Trailer units!

I too had never seen so many US Big Rigs assembled in one place, some trucks had traveled down from the North of the country just to make this fun day, tribute.
When the Smokey and the Bandit films came out, AM CB Radio was Illegal in the UK and many american car owners and other people started CB Clubs buying and selling imported units at meets, the Police and the Government tried to shut it all down saying the Imported American units were transmitting on the emergency channels,
Eventually they made CB Radio legal but we had to ditch our American AM units and buy new FM Channel units, we also had to licence them, (another Tax to the Government).
Then the mobile phone came out and CB disappeared as fast as it had arrived.
Burt Reynolds should of had shares in Radio Shack or Marconi, he was single handedly probably responsible for more sales of CB Radio in the UK than anyone else! :dude3:
Back in the early 80s I even got this, it was my daily drive car for 4 1/2 years with CB Fitted :)
