I have never liked double sided tape anywhere on the car but it seems especially out of place on the leading edge of the ACR-E diffuser. This is a pain to remove, clean, reapply at each diff or trans fluid service or any other time the diffuser is removed. We have seen at least one instance of the tape failing on track, when this happens the diffuser is pushed down by the air and can grind on the street/track, best case causing damage to the strakes or diffuser.
This kit eliminates the double stick tape on the leading edge and replaces it with aluminum and stainless steel. The upper section is meant to remain on the car. No modification is required for installation. Parts are being anodized now but ordering is open on the website.
Thanks
Doug

Funny I was looking at that last weekend. Count me in Doug.

Me too. I was astounded that the OEM would use double-sided tape on the leading edge of this.

Went and looked under my car. Is the inboard bolt necessary since there’s already a factory bolt inboard of that one? Also, is it tough to get to the bolt area from above? Still love the design, just thinking out loud.

Install instructions on the site, everything is done from underneath, doesn’t take long, nothing more than removing the outside diffuser brackets. I do think both are needed just to be safe, redundancy, and to keep the leading edge pressed tightly against the body.
Thanks

Doug, with the new mount installed, any negative side effect in leaving the double-sided tape in place as a gap filler to restrict air from entering the front edge?

I will be testing this at the NasaProRacing.com Nationals at COTA next week at 160mph+ I had severe diffuser damage from the last time i was there from the front of the diffuser coming down somehow (I think a couple bolts came lose). This is exactly what I have been looking for!

If this is for track use, I'd just put a strip of gorilla tape over the whole front edge on both sides, that's what I'm going to do. It can only help.

To me the negative would be the tape still being there but the added thickness won’t be an issue. Not sure there is too much benefit to leaving it on. An alternative could be some adhesive foam, heli tape or other tape as AZ mentioned, or I’ve seen permatex ultra black gasket maker used as well to smooth the transition. I haven’t decided if I will add anything or leave as is.

Doug, you’re killing me with all these awesome new products that I just have to buy! ;)
Doug, as usual this is a great product! Now I just need to buy a diffuser so can get this. :D

I haven't pulled the ACR-E panel yet, just completed the hi-flow cat conversation to manage the door sill heat issue we all come to love. I like the foam idea, less clean up involved during rear diff fluid changes.

Any wind tunnel testing with the larger washers? The additional drag could cause some unwanted vortices :witless: Just pulling your leg ... another great idea/product, will be ordering shortly with diffuser ext.
