Now I don't feel quite so bad about taking mine out tomorrow. Supposed to be nice, but melting snow will make it messy. She's been sitting for 5 weeks, so better to be dirty then let her sit any longer. Sitting is not good for cars!
Scot, so is your ACR a semi-daily driver, even here in PA winters?

I drive it as much as I can pretty much....I have a couple other cars if the weather is not great or I need to haul people, etc.....
I do wash it annually so it will be clean at some point.. :D

Skamania WA near Portland OR...132 inches rain (11 FEET) annually. I could have raised goldfish in the passenger seat and footwell.....no fishbowl needed. So was Indy-500 1996 WET+. VOI-3. I drove from OR. Everyone had Gen 1...600+ leakers!

Cars are meant to be driven! Dirt just shows off that you're using it for what it's meant to be used for. I love this thread!
I drove mine 3500 miles from Portland to San Diego and back (down Highway 1 and back through Vegas). I think I collected every single bug in existence on the way!
I also drive it in the rain sometimes too but try to avoid it only because it's sketchy in the wet, not because I don't want it to get dirty.
I'm averaging about 7000 miles a year which isn't too bad considering I don't daily drive it (I work from home, otherwise I might!).

My gen 1 leaks pretty much the same with the top on and off!
I know a few Viper owners who hide them away and only bring them out in the sun, so it's really cool to see that I'm not the only one willing to drive it in whatever gets thrown at it. Sometimes you just can't avoid it. lol

I haven't washed mine since the summer of 2012. Track days, fall cruises in rain, more track days, more rain, daily driver, etc. since the last wash. I don't wash it for two reasons. First, it makes me very happy to watch other Viper owners work up a pucker vortex when they see my dirty Viper. Second, I love a dirty girl. :witless:

I have the ideal job, drive, for my Viper as a daily driver. As a chef I work ridiculous hours and the restaurant I work at is located in the northwestern hills of CT. My work hours help me avoid morning and evening rush hour traffic. Open road on the highways for me. But the best part is the scenic, back roads route to work. Secluded, twisty roads with scenery. It's bliss. At work, my Viper is safe. My only regret is that I can only enjoy it a a daily driver between April - November. If it weren't for the ice and snow I'd drive it to work year round. Nothing like getting into my Viper at the end of a long 12 hour shift, no traffic....bliss. Nothing like arriving to work with my adrenaline at red-line. :D The only negative is that the restaurant owners don't want my Viper parked next to the guests cars. It's a high end place, lambos, bentleys, merceds, maseratis, etc. There have been complaints by the guests that the Viper gets the attention in the driveway. LOL. So I have to park away from the attention. It's OK. The restaurant is on 120 acre resort. Nothing gets near my Viper. Perhaps a bear taking a nature break near the trees where I park but that's about it.

I have over 130,000 daily driven miles on a '95 and '04 (I have lived with the cars in Orlando, Maui, Oahu, Carmel, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and Newport Beach. Most of the time I have lived 4-8 miles from work.)

Mine is driven almost daily with the top down when the temps are between 35 and 95! I have gotten lazy lately and driven another car when it's really cold or rainy because I didn't want to put the top up! She has stomped in lots of mud puddles and the occasional snow flurry and has been quite the pig-mobile. She turned 54k miles yesterday on the way to our club's indoor karting event and lunch. Funny thing is out of the 8 or 9 cars that came all but 2 were 'verts with the tops down! It's good to be in Texas this time of year!!!!

Not sure whether the salt molestation or the $1.75 car wash is more offensive to the viper purists.

I guess it was for a good cause, but Dear Lord......! I think I would have taken the kids for a ride in the parking lot, and left it at that, LOL!
So how long DID that take to clean up?
SEASnake
09-19-2014, 01:31 AM
It started a few years ago as slow parade rides around the main campground road, but the dust from the dirt road prompted the change to the grass field past the ball fields. Doing donuts in the grass is easy and relatively safe, as we found out when I got bored with driving in circles at 2 mph and started sliding/spinning as I was revving for one kid and popped the clutch at 4k 2 years ago. This was from last year when we started the donuts right after the motorcycle show. There are videos of this somewhere. The best part was the one boy who asked for "no spinning" - I asked him if I could "slide" instead. He OK'd that, but I apparently "lost control" and did a 720 instead - he got back in line for 3 more runs. As to how long it took to clean? Who knows and who cares? I guess I washed and vacuumed a few extra times for a couple of months, but never did a full-on detail. Technically, I haven't removed the seats so it probably isn't clean to this day.
