View Full Version : Hood Lift Supports OR Bonnets Gone Wobbly

Searched the Forum but only found threads from our GenII brothers.

So, last weekend lifted the hood to set the battery tender, check the oil etc... n' the hood wouldn't stay up.
I fabricated my own support with a piece of PVC pipe... but obviously need to replace the gas charged lift supports.

There was one thread that says clean the support lifts and hit 'em with a spray adhesive.. but is just another temporary fix.

These are the same manufacturer (Stabilus).

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with the units off of EBay.. or if you have any other recommendations.

I don't have experience with that brand from eBay, however. I changed mine out recently and went with these, fit and work perfectly. Google or Amazon search B01GINVKUQ.

I purchased Stabilis cylinders for the trunk off of Amazon. Perfect replacement

I got a set from Rockauto. They are identical to the factory ones.

The lift supports on the car are from Stabilus with the Mopar part# on them (4865820AF). So pretty sure Stabilus is the OEM source.

Thanks Fatman for the Tuff Support part# (for the '06).
They also have Tuff Supports for the '08 n' I like to use Amazon whenever I can.

Snapped right in. Perfect fit.
Got the job done without getting cut in half by a falling hood! :orange:

Hood is standing tall now when opened.
