A cool part of Viper History which helped GEN 4 -5 in the Horsepower war . One of the rarest Vipers out there...........

Oh my god look at that intake! Even if an intake like that made LESS power on my Viper, id want it.

I also thought the intake was the coolest part of the car.

The looks kind of reminded me of the local ricers who cant afford to have their body panels painted.... Okay maybe not that bad but along those lines.

Need an engine shot.
Interestingly there was a Gen 3 Viper at CAAP that had an intake like that with those velocity stacks. I asked Dick Winkes about the intake and he said that only 2 of them were ever made...i guess we found the second one...
Here is the one from CAAP. Doesn't look exactly the same.

Definitely not the same. The car listed for sale was a one off by Meclearn. Dubbed the “Diamondback” I believe. Every body panel on the car is made of carbon fiber and the engine was tuned by Mclearn as well. They designed that custom intake. The “trumpets” are angled in such a way as to get the best air flow.

The “Mclaren” tie is a bit misleading. This car was not tuned by the same McLaren that built the F1 or other current road cars. It was tuned by a US company of a similar name.

This is ASC McLaren. Same company that converted GN’s into GNX’s.

WHY OH WHY did they not paint the rest of the panels the same color? Fuck man, its decisions like that that make me want to punt something. Just like GM's decision with the 2019 camaro.. Thing is ugly as fuck!

"$295K".... that's one helluva profit considering the KC owner won the car in a VCA raffle years ago.

This was the last Caldwell Development Inc. GTS-R intake that Chrysler still had in inventory.

Supposedly nearly $800,000.00 invested in build (sounds like a Pentagon deal to me)...with a value for tax purposes of $120,000.00 as I recall.

Ugh, that is hideous. It's hard to imagine, someone wanted to do that.

Nice power for a Gen 3 though.

Pass; had ITBs on my 427 LS3. It was a total SOB to tune and never ran right. After chatting w/ a few people who had also had Harropps I realized everybody was having the same tuning/drivability issues so I just said f-it and went back to factory manifold.

ITB lesson - happiest day is when you unbox them and put them on your engine; next happiest is when you re-box them and sell them to the next guy. Or I suppose you could live w/ them if you don't mind issues like burned valves.
