Attempted the latest map update this morning. Everything looked fine until Unit 3 of the update started loading. It slows and freezes at 65% and everything shuts off. No touch screen, no gauges, no Off/Acc/Run light. "Map Help" is a Monday-Friday, Uconnect Help - not! I attached my battery tender not wanting the upload time drain the battery. I do need to move the car. Any way to stop the update without killing the snake? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The snake's dead. Tried to start it and it doesn't find a key (either of two). Doors open BUT not the rear deck or glove compartment. Guess its flatbed to the dealer on Monday.

Did you try disconnecting the battery for a hard reboot? If that doesn't work....ask the tow driver to use caution winching it onto the flatbed. Sorry to hear this, please keep us posted.

Battery is disconnected (for safety). Have a front tow hook installed but I'll let the dealer get the tower (if necessary). Hopefully the extended MOPAR bumer to bumper will cover whatever happened.

Curious-If a Viper needs to be towed, would over inflating the tires increase the clearance ???

2016ACR, sorry for your troubles. Admittedly, I have no experience in this area.
I have spent the last hour going over the 2014 Service Manual CD...opening a gazillion descriptions, testing, etc. notations in an attempt to find an "out" for you. All to no avail. A wiTECH 2.0 is a necessity along with an owners guide to UCONNECT.
I see you have disconnected the battery...BUT, did you try to reconnect it as a test? I suspect you did...to no avail.
I am sure all Gen V owners will be looking forward to "the cure" for your Viper.
On a lighter note, I am starting to suspect that the Gen V modules and CAN bus are offspring of the infamous "HAL 9000" computer found in "2001: A Space Odyssey". A description of "HAL follows:
HAL (Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer) is a sentient computer (or artificial general intelligence).
Heuristically....involving or serving as an aid to learning, discovery, or problem-solving by experimental and especially trial-and-error methods
Best of luck Monday..

I had this happen to my SRT Jeep when the security update came out. I pulled an under hood fuse that killed power to the Uconnect system (to reset it from the stalled state). I re-installed the fuse and I started the software update from the beginning an it worked.

All is well - I hope. Charged the battery for 3 hrs. and removed the update USB. Reconnected everything and got in and started right up. Touch screen message requested the USB dive be inserted. Update restarted from where it left off - 100% Unit 2, 0% Unit 3 of the update. Kept the car running. Update proceeded and completed 1½ hours later (documentation says 45 minutes). Once the update complete the system did reset itself and little by little each component appeared on the screen. Followed the remaining install instructions and all seems to be working. There are some permanent DTC codes I was unable to reset (P1628, P2104, P2106, P210E) all appear to be associated with allow voltage situation and have occurred when I unsuccessfully attempted to start the car last night. Test drive was OK with all indictor working and no active codes being displayed. Maybe keeping the car running or on a battery charger (not tender) is the trick. Any how -still have to go to the dealer to have the "PERMANENT" codes reset.

Glad to hear that you are OK !! Interestingly, there are "differences in print" between the 2014 Viper Service Manual on,CD and the printed 2014 Viper Owners Manual concerning fuse location and purpose. Glad you didn't have to ho fishing.

Good to hear. Computers do weird things for no reason. It's why I (at this point in our technology) trust, or will ride in, a self-driving car.

The time it takes is dependent on the USB speed. If you tried using an older USB stick you just had laying around then it might take longer (as you said it did) than it would with a newer USB 3.0+. I went through this updating my Focus RS Sync3 system.

Used the USB they sent me. Tried copying to a new(er) USB drive but the system did not recognized the new drive. I think I'll just use my Garmin GPS from now on and forget about map updates - they're useless on the track anyway :)
