Tail of the Dragon Event

Event details (based on previous trips, just to give you an idea of what you're getting into :D )

Thursday 5.29
- All day road trip starting from our meeting point in Cincinnati to Gatlinburg, TN.

Friday 5.30
- Depart the hotel and drive to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. It's about a 90 minute drive. Usually the Cracker Barrel west of Knoxville off Campbell Station Road (there are multiple close to there).
- Leave breakfast to run the Cherahola Skyway & the Tail of the Dragon.
- Drive back to Gatlinburg for dinner.

Saturday 5.31
- Scenic driving through the mountains with a stop for lunch.
- Evening parade through Gatlinburg (this is pretty cool).

Sunday 6.30
- Start the drive back still grinning from all the fun you've had.

That sounds like a great time. I'd love to drive over from Indy if schedule allows. Would you guys be interested in talking with the Central Indiana club to see if a 2-region caravan would be possible? If so, I'm happy to relay the info to the organizers here.

Ron, we would definitely love to have you guys. I have mentioned this to victoryman100 on the forums in the main ToD thread. He said he had several people interested in driving down from Indianapolis to join. GreenVenom said yesterday that he is planning to be in that group. Dave is planning to join as well, but we will pick him up farther south on our way down 75.

I sent Steve the preliminary dates and the convoy starting point of Cincinnati so that he could relay that in one of the IN/KY meetings.

You should definitely join us. In 2011 & 2012 we had a small convoy drive down from the IN/KY club, usually 4-6 cars. It was fun to drive down in a group of Vipers in addition to all the fun of the actual event.

That would be entirely up to you guys. But, when we do the cruises, parade, etc over the weekend, we prefer all the Non-vipers be in the rear or up front. Basically, for pictures. Not hating on anyone or vehicle. See y'all in a few weeks!

I meant Kentucky, for sure.

So originally I was thinking that we would meet on the north side of Cincinnati because it would be near 71 & 75 so we could catch multiple groups of people. I started looking at the map closer this weekend to put together the final details and realized that the original northern Cincy idea was pretty far out of the way for the crew driving in from Indianapolis. So, I found a new meetings spot today that is SOUTH of the border in Kentucky. Sorry for the confusion, just seemed like we should not have people back tracking.

So, to confirm again, the new meeting spot is SOUTH of the river in KENTUCKY. It's about 8 miles south of the river I think, right off 71/75. So people coming from any direction will have to drive right past it.

We are meeting at 1pm at Chipotle. Then eating lunch. Then leaving as a group. I'm thinking we can be gone within an hour. Also, there is gas right next to Chipotle so we can get full tanks there as well.

Appears me and Fargo (Akron/Canton) will be joining up for a pre mini convoy from the Grove City OH area around 10:30-11:00 to then head to KY. If anyone else is interested. We'll even waive the Venzano Viper interior requirement.

Google says Grove City to Chipotle is a 1 hour and 40 minute drive. Should put them there about 12:30-1pm.

Andy, can you post the location you are meeting at? I think there will be some interest to join and head to Chipotle together.

Sure! I could do Chipolte, but just to be different... McDonalds! Grove City, exit 100 off of 71. Assuming you'll be coming from the North and exiting driving South, exit 100 and turn right (Stringtown Rd.) McDonalds is just ahead on the left about 2/10th's of a mile (turn at the light). There is a big lot in the back for trucks, etc. Probably back there somewhere. Let me know if someone wants to join us. Let's say 10:30-10:45 am. Hit the road to KY at 11:00

We're only a week and a half away from the convoy. I've emailed the directions to everyone that's planning to join. If you didn't get it LET ME KNOW!

In the last week we've picked up a couple more cars. The list is at about 20 now I think. Cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sending out an updated convoy email in the next day or two..... depends on how much Viper driving I do :)
Key updates:
- Participant list (a couple dropped, a couple added)
- Updated time for Saturday morning in Gatlinburg. Talked to Joel & Brian_GTS this week and we wanted to add an extra half hour to that cruise. So, we will meet in the parking lot at 8am, wheels up at 8:30am for Saturday in Gatlinburg.
