Just noticed today that when turning the steering wheel either direction while stopped, I'm getting a creaking sound. I'm at 500 miles so I need to get to the dealer anyway for my 1st oil change, but thought I'd ask here to get some ideas. Many thanks.

Where is the sound coming from? Tires? The steering wheel itself? Wide tires tend to make noise when turned while stopped especially on certain smoother surfaces.

Seems to be coming from the steering column, near the wheel itself. Thanks

I may be wrong but I believe there is a "clock spring" under the steering wheel. At least I think that is what it is called. I seem to remember breaking one in a Viper at some point. Made a noise when turning.

Several creaks and groans went away as I have put more miles on the car.

Seems to be more and more noticeable with each drive. A clicking/creaking right behind the wheel, when turning either direction. i'll report back what the Viper tech tells me Friday. Thanks again
