Gen III respray

Hi guys,
I have been mulling over this for a while and i think to be sure i would ask you guys here on the forum.
Its just sharing opinions and perspectives and things i may not have thought of.
My viper is 2005 SRT10 roadster in the race yellow. Now, although its pretty cool and not horrible its not what i would have chosen if i bought the car brand new.
I either would have gone red or my 1st choice would be viper blue probably with the white stripes. I know they did the 2006 coupe in this scheme and i did see for sale last year on the USA eBay a 2005 roadster done in the viper blue with white stripes and i really liked it. (obviously a repaint job that one) i think they key thing that concerns me is changing colour detrimental to value/re-sell? I think it would sell but would change the cars history concept of it perhaps....? not sure on that. :-/
I would of course be paint quality true as in would be the actual Viper blue and correct stripes. And also a top-top quality, highly professional paint job!!
Chiefly, dont want to ruin the re-sell/value of my beloved SRT10, and i can live with the yellow if i have too. Hell, ive had the car 3 years now. Being in Australia its not like i can sell mine and buy SRT10 in blue as there is not one here in blue! Well, there is a Gen V coupe to be converted to RHD and made compliant for Oz roads etc but thats gonna be 250,000 aussie dollars when said and done and thats way outta reach!!! (shame coz i wouldn't half mind that car!!! Thoughts/opinions please guys

Hi Mark, well to be fair mate, its your car and they must be very rare in OZ, If you're not happy with the colour then change it :)
Best way would be to remove all panels from the car and do it as done at Prefix. In your situation I can't see keeping the car an original colour would make any difference to resale value, if anything it might boost resale value as Yellow is not everyone's taste. No offence meant to the Yellow owners but it could be a harder colour to sell? One other thing I noticed last summer with solid colour Yellow Corvettes in France was the amount of bugs and insects the colour attracted! In Australia Im sure you have plenty of those!

Personally I like the Yellow SRT/10s :)

Please post up pics, especially of the RHD be cool to see it :)

You could always go for some cool graphics or a wrap? Might be a cheaper option? and easy to change if you get board :)

Wrap the car. You can go crazy and keep the value and it will only cost 2000-3000 USD for a fantastic wrap job. A good paint job on a Gen III complete color change over would would 13-15K done correctly.

Wow...!! That looks real cool. !! Never heard of 'dip' your car etc. Will have to look into that here in Australia. Wrapping exists here but ive never been sure of that process due to things like how does it not get sun damaged? (Hot here in Oz you know..!!) does it polish up well? does it not bubble? Is it durable? etc etc.....
What is 'dip' process though...? Just wondering if they may call it something else over here... will def have to find out!! Cheers guys.
P.S a gen 4 hood for my gen 3...... any ideas? Ive seen some 'fibreglass' copies and carbon copies on USA eBay and im really not sure on those as have heard of alignment/fitting issues when i have researched into them more :-/ Would prefer genuine one even if needs a little repair job or something. Any pointers you can give?

Check out the website...lots of color choices and DIY YouTube videos to help you along. Did it myself after a lot of research prior to attempting it. If you screw up, it peels right off and you can try again. The dip typically lasts 2-3 years and stands up to high temperatures very well ( I can relate living in Arizona, with temps sometimes hitting 115 F or so). Check it out and research it... it was a blast and made a huge difference in the look!

RHD drives so well on this car. A Canadian friend of mine says its 'feels' the road better in RHD than LHD and he was astounded how it drove (he had one in his native country of course). Not cheap to convert though. Mine at the time to convert was close to $60,000 Aussie dollars on conversion costs alone but the quality is there and it shows! :-) Aussie standards for road compliance are actually among the most stringent in the world.

Dip or wrap. I have now done both to my cars. If your diy, you can do both for under $500. Professionally dip it with autoflex, it's much better, stronger. Cost about $2k. Professionally wrap probably $3k

As said many times above, I would definitely go with a wrap. Much cheaper than paint, lasts long and also protects the original paint hiding underneath. Also, it's easy to change colors if you decide you want something else.
Never seen a RHD Viper before! Looks kinda odd.

I totally agree!! Never knew why they didn't attempt to either. Shogun in USA actually do (or have done..) A RHD conversion Viper (Black GEN3 SRT10) for a middle eastern customer back along. Well, few years ago but they could have aligned with the boys from Detroit. But i think it really boils down to costs. VERY expensive to do the mirror image conversion to at the least, be equal if not better than the LHD in drivability. Would have blown the price of a Viper way up. Im sure an alliance could have been worked out to reduce the costs and make a feasable seller. All hypothetical now though...
And same here on Australia Re: RHD Mustangs. Selling very well here. And they aint cheap to buy either. Obviously the conversion costs are 'absorbed' into the retail price of the Mustang. But it sells. :-)
But i do love the fact my SRT10 is so uncommon here and attracts phenomenal interest every time. :-D

Hi Brian, well i dont hate yellow but not my fave. No choice when i bought this beauty as it came in..... yellow! hahaha But 3 years on owning her ive always wanted my fave colour Viper Blue or i like it in Red. For non standard colour a burnt orange like the Lambourghini i like and think would look cool. Must admit the green example matey pictured above in this thread looks pretty neat i have to say :-) Hmmm... choices choices....
