View Full Version : My not so extreme version of an ACR E look pics heavy

First of all I want to thank this community for all the ideeas and all the help some of the guys here had offered.
Since I never seen an ACR in person (here in Romania, I belive I have the only gen V ever registered in this country), all I had done is inspired from pictures/advices/measurements you guys had provided...
I wanted a look similar to the ACR-E but still be able to drive it on pretty rough roads that we have here.

So here it goes:

WING

It's a Seibon 180cm wing with custom made ACR look end plates wrapped in carbon fiber veneer. The stanchions are to be changed with a more ACR close looking ones, but because of the complex shape of the trunk I have to get my hands on at least one factory one to 3D scan it and replicate. The wing is almost as long as the factory ACR, but not that wide, so a little less drag, I went 280 km/h no problem and was still going. I made a custom aluminum backplate to reinforce the trunk from the inside just to be sure :).

DIFFUSER STRAKES:

I bought a set of 5 from ebay, riveted them and then I made some custom ACR-E look a like extensions, wrap them in true carbon fiber veneer and bolt them to the existing strakes

CANARDS:

I made them from scratch, they are fiberglass, I plan to made them from carbon fiber, maybe in autumn.

FRONT SPLITTER

I wanted to keep the ground clearence as close to factory as possible so I made a custom fiber glass lip piece to level the bumper for the splitter plate. I also bought a pair of DSE ACR rods and a carbon fiber rigid sheet (5mm sandwich) 200x100cm. I made the rods mounts myself after I've seen some pics here. So now I'm proud to say that the clearence is only 6mm lower then the factory GTS bumper...of course the bumper itself extends to the front, which give you a little trouble, but nothing as close as the real ACR splitter
I need some advice how to paint the lip...I'm thinking matte / satin black as the ACR one...
I will eventually make it in carbon fiber, but in autumn.

When you get to making them in CF, you will be able to sell a bunch. Awesome work. I don't have a Gen 5 yet, but I want a set. LOL

Nice work. The Seibon lines looks a good match to the GenV. Your stanchions doesn't look too bad to me. Certainly better the Agency Power, which looks out of place with the base narrower than the top section. If you can round off the edges on your stanchions, it could better match the curvature of the car's lines. Love the end-plates.

For the front splitter piece, bracing against the underside of the frame, should insure they have enough support under load. The ACR version is a single piece as part of the belly pan attached to the frame.
Did you consider integrating a replaceable rub stripe?

thanks :)

The splitter carbon sheet (not the lip / valence) si bolted to the frame. The chin is bolted to the bumper, but it sits between the carbon sheet and the bumper so I think it's pretty safe.
I will laser cut a custom 2mm thick aluminum trim piece to go under the splitter and have it powdercoated. I'm still thinking how to bolt it to the splitter without being to obvious (bolts, rivets,...)

Not gonna lie, when I started reading I expected a train wreck. Couldn’t be more wrong. Everything looks phenomenal. That car must create stadium sized crowds in Romania.

Agree with the posts above. For a non-OEM effort, this is outstanding. And even compared to some OEM efforts (ahem, ZR1), still amazing.

I know putting a car together is half the fun,but if it’s a 1:28 you wanted I would sell u mine, has 47 miles on it.

Spray foam on an old door, then lowered the car onto it to make an imprint? Awesome!

Fantastic view from up top. Provides a nice perspective of rear wing curvature relative to the tail of the car.

Noticed, the Seibon rear wing specs called out the stanchion spacing as 39.7"(100.8cm), I assume you drilled new mounting holes on the wing to fit the distance of the factory mounting location on the liftgate.

Yes, I did relocate the stanchions so they can match the factory mounting points of the trunk. To do that I had to open the wing and so ruin the carbon fiber finish, that you can see in the first pictures.

Got it.

What year is your Viper?
The 2015+ Liftgate is reinforced from the factory, you probably don't need the aluminum piece on the underside of the liftgate.
You can peak inside the rear brake Stryker light and look for label if you want to make sure. Below is an image from my spare liftgate.

Lip is back from paiting.
I made some thicker diffuser fins and made a modificatiom of the angle in the rear so they will not rub like they use to.
Also I installed a replaceble aluminum sheet that doubles the splitter so it can be changed if scratch or damaged.

All that's left is buying my DSE black support hardware at half price to get rid of the silver.
