Has anyone here ever used a temporary windshield protector/film? Something I can slap on the windshield at the track and peel off after?
I'm taking my wife's E63 wagon to the track this weekend and will only do 2 events a year with it so don't want anything permanent.

I use Bray Windshield protector on all my cars and it's awesome. But it's not temporary, in the sense that it is applied by a professional and it's DIFFICULT to apply as it needs to be optically clear and protect at the same time. Basically it's like Xpel for the windshield. Has saved me on the road and track many many times. Not cheap either.

I have not heard of DIY films for the windshield - again because of the optical quality issues.

I use bray as well. Same experience as 512BB. Great but expensive.

I use Clearplex on the windshield, also expensive.

If you google "nascar windshield tear offs" you'll find a couple of versions that may work for you. Here is what I'm thinking would work....some make general blank sizes but popular cars used on track can be had pre-cut.

Most are multiple layers but the racetearoffs appears to have a universal cut to fit single layer option that is around $60.00

Since you are buying a band of clear tear off (like 30" x 60") it is often necessary to have a sign shop make some sort of vinyl visor banner to go across the top of the windshield to match the curvature of the roof line to the top of the windshield leaving you with a straight level edge for the tear off to butt up against. Although a lot of cars have applications that are custom cut to fit the windshield, the Mercs were no listed from what I saw.
