I have been selling GEN1 soft tops for some time, and I'm trying to determine when and what changes were made. I am asking for help in an effort to document the changes thru the model years. Please respond only if the top is original to the car. If you would:
1. Attach a photo as below showing both the sun visor mounting screw, and the ST mounting hole.
2. Provide a measurement from center to center of the top mounting holes.
3. Year, last 4 Vin #'s and the MDH for you car.
4. Describe your latch pin mechanism; roll pin, flat silver or flat gold blade and BLADE LENGTH.
Please send to Ricksviper@aol.com
Thanks to all that help. Will provide summary of findings.
Thanks
Rick

I think most of the changes happened mid-year 1994. Some have long pins(early models 93-94), others are shorter and blade type(95-96). But also the 1996 tops are a one year top, they have a front locking screw vs. the 95 and earlier that have a slide lock for the side bars. 95 and earlier also have the soft foam on the windows and are plastic zippered, whereas the 1996 windows are hard sliders and have no foam, the seal is on the soft top bar(thin).

JonB probably has the full list of changes, PM him to chime in.

Good recap. Actually blade type started in 93. The windshield surround changed at least three times. I'd like to try and document these changes with photos and measurements and try to time the change. You are correct, the 96 is a one year only top.

I also found out that the Gen 2 soft top works very good with the 1996 RT with the slider windows. Basically because of the weather stripping on the window frame.
