The Western Reserve VOA is proud to present its second signature event for the 2018 season.
Slither on 16 / Back of the Dragon
Tazewell, VA
Friday - Sunday, June 22-24
In our quest to find the best driving roads in the country, we have managed to find some phenomenal roads practically in our region's backyard. The Back of the Dragon slithers through the mountains for miles and miles creating an exhilarating Viper driving experience.
The Day's Events:
Friday 6/22
For those able to join for the entire day, we will be meeting for lunch about 11:30am along the Ohio River (TBD), somewhere between Marietta and Wheeling. From there we begin our journey on route 16 all the way down to Princeton, WV to the host hotel. Then we can relax at a casual dinner close by. Alternatively, you can take the highway and meet us in Princeton, WV for dinner.
Saturday 6/23
The journey on route 16 heats up as we enter the area known as the Back of the Dragon in Virginia (not to be confused with the Tail of the Dragon in TN/NC). This incredible stretch of road zig zags over several mountains before calming down in Marion, VA. We will snag some local BBQ before heading back north through some more twisties. We will visit several scenic overlooks throughout the day for pictures. The day will end with dinner back in Princeton, WV.
Sunday 6/24
This is a travel day home. If you need to get back quick, hop on the highway. If you haven't gotten enough slithering on route 16 you are welcome to jump back on it all the way to the Ohio River.
To register for the event:
Please send an email to westernreservevoa@gmail.com. Cost for the event is $35 per person, which includes event shirt, event coin & scenic overlook fees. All meals are on your own. Registration needs to be received no later than June 1, 2018. Please indicate your shirt size & mens/womens when you register.
Lodging:
We have a room block reserved at the Hampton Inn Princeton at a cost of $119 per night. Mention “Western Reserve Viper Club” when you book your room. Please reserve your room by June 1st.
