Same track, same tires, same day. This was at the Bondurant track in Arizona doing Time Trials with NasaProRacing.com
It's a fairly short but extremely fast, scary track. It was my first time on this track configuration. I'll post videos of both cars when I can find the time.
The 9 liter was 1 second faster which is a lot on a track like this. The TTU is the 9 liter, the TT1 car is the ACR. The 9 liter weighs 3000, the ACR 3170.
On another note, guys that say adding/losing small amounts of weight like 10-20 lbs doesn't matter at the track, check out the times of the top three cars when I was in my ACR.
We were all within 2 HUNDREDTHS of each other. 5 lbs more in my acr i would have been 3rd place, not 1st. I got track records for both TTU and TT1 this weekend.
A Porsche cup car got the TT1 track record Saturday, so I went home that night and grabbed the ACR and stole the record Sunday. Go Viper!

Here's a track map. To be fast on this track you have to go balls out, and just drive both sides like it's a long straight with no turns. Scariest stuff I've ever done. I can't wait for my roll cage!

Good showing AZ. It does make you wonder though if the ACR was 170lbs less and therefore had same weight as 9.0 whether there would have been any difference. The way I see it the 9.0 will come into its own on longer, "power" tracks, where over here this translates to Grand Prix Formula 1 tracks like Silverstone, Spa. On shorter tracks like you just did where there are not very long straights then perhaps the advantage isn't as stark. I presume in the States, places like COTA the 9.0 would definitely make a much larger difference.

I actually do better on stop and go tracks. The more stopping and going the more advantage I have due to the monster torque and holding 2nd gear until 96mph

It was absolutely heart stopping when it came by! I was trying to talk with someone and every minute everyone would stop and watch then resume talking after he went by. The 9.0L is just insane! Stradman, I can't wait for your videos of your 9.0L on the tracks you run!

Very nice driving and congrats on the records. Power to weight is clearly important on the track but it would take a very good driver to notice the difference that 10-20 pounds would make. You clearly are a driver that can wring out the additional performance that a weight reduction could make. I for one couldn't drive that well.

Were you doing the same config? Bondurant usually doesn't let students run that config as it's so fast and dangerous.
Check out this map, it shows the many different configs, i bet you had that kink before 5. Coming in the fast way from the loop it's 100% flat

Great job on the records, have to keep crushing the Porsches as they get quicker and quicker. Am I understanding correctly that the extra power and 170 lbs made up all the difference on the ACR's crazy aero ? What type of Aero setup is on your 9 litre ?

Yes, we ran that track and got air when trying hard to straighten the kink before #7 :)
Congrats ! Great driving on your part, subscribed to hear more of your futur records and events !

My 9 liter has all the ACR aero too. Except for the hood, so no vented hood.

I’m very curious how a 9.0 ACR Ext will fair against a 720s on the track. Anyone know?

Well I'll certainly be telling everyone how it fares against the 720s, 675 LT, Senna and GT2RS's on track once I get mine back from Prefix-albeit it won't be before end of summer...

The good thing about those types of cars the owners rarely change from the factory street tires. It comes down to that. Viper owners are more likely to throw on 18's and slicks or Hoosiers. Not even sure if you can fit an 18 or 19" wheel on most of those cars. Although Hoosier just announced they are doing 20" Hoosiers, a GT3 buddy of mine pushed that through and is getting the first sets.

I wont have time to post mine for a while, but here's my buddy's cam from his GT3 right when I passed him- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUxbWkPV4nk&t=533s
You'll see my brake lights coming on a lot when I'm not braking. It happens when I let off the gas from full throttle. Dunno why the Gen 5's do this. Mine even does it on the dyno.

Yeah I've seen Gen V's do that. But dude, that track man. It desperately needs a resurfacing! It would loosen anyones fillings running up and down that all day!!

LOL. That's all we get around here. That's actually the best of the 4 Wild Horse Pass Motorsports tracks.

Nice vid...Thx for sharing. How modded was that GT3 RS? He seemed to keep up decently enough in the twisties than you laid the smack down in the straight...It looks like he would have been a better match for your non-9L ACR...

Would love to see your vids whenever you get a chance to post them. Be safe.

Most likely your brake pedal switch is Mia-adjusted. It’s an easy adjustment, and despite what dodge will tell you, no new parts are needed.

It's just a GT3, not an RS, he is a very fast driver, as good as it gets on a well prepped car on A7's. GT3's run 11 flat in the 1/4 mile much faster than any stock Viper, so yeah he can stay pretty close in the straights or twisties, even with the 9 liter. We have gone back and forth for years, just depends on what tires we are running that day and how many heat cycles are on them. It's funny guys that don't track, you have no idea it really comes down to tires. From a street tire to A7's or slicks could be up to 10 seconds alone, which is like a Miata vs an ACR. Then slicks to slicks, 1 heat cycle vs 5-6 can be a 3-4 second difference which is just night and day. A 300hp car on new slicks would walk away from a 600hp car on street tires as far as lap times go.
