There may be trouble brewing with the supercar specialists at Bugatti. The French brand shocked the world with the Veyron when it debuted in 2006, but at eight years old, the hypercar may be getting a little stale to its wealthy clientele. What's worse, Bugatti insiders say a replacement is still years away.

Bugatti planned an initial run of 300 Veyron coupes when it went on sale, but the introduction of the convertible added an extra 150 cars to the docket. Generally, its cars have been built to order, other than some of its show cars. In December, Bugatti confirmed that it had sold its 400th car. Now, there are still about 40 Veyron Grand Sports to find homes for, according to Bloomberg, which amounts to about 62.5 million euros ($85 million) in product.

To solve the problem, Bugatti has devised the Dynamic Drive Experience that has the Grand Sport touring the US. It allows potential buyers to drive the car on the road and experience its raw speed on closed airport runways. The company hopes being hands-on with the supercar is going to move a few more of them.

Don't get too excited for a Veyron successor just yet. Even after the convertible is sold out, "I wouldn't expect an announcement for a couple years down the road," said John Hill, Bugatti Sales Director for the Americas, to Bloomberg, although there still might be some hope because the company's president confirmed that a future model is under development. Maybe Bugatti can surprise us again.

Only know of three people with a Veyron and all three are in the B Club. Personally I like the styling of the Aventador better and if I won the lotto would still choose the latter. I'd also take the P1 McLaren or the LaFerrari over the Veyron. Then again, that 16 cylinder engine SCREAMS and would eat those cars for breakfast.

^^ Exactly ^^

Just the premium on aventadors when they debuted was the value of a new Gen V at MSRP & they sold out.

Simple principle of supply & demand.

Yup, exactly what caught my eye, was the fact that to sell Veyrons the Company is offering test drives.

Very interesting indeed.

If a car could be a "butterface" the Veyron would be it. Bangin' performance, but the looks......!

I like them for the engineering marvel they were when first introduced. I feel they are uniquely beautiful. When I see one they grab my attention.

With deliveries of the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari underway or soon to be underway, the Bugatti Veyron’s technology is unquestionably being overshadowed. As a result, one could argue the Veyron is being forgotten about as these three hypercars fast become the most desirable cars on the market.

And this leads us to the problem Volkswagen is facing. It currently has about 40 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport to sell totalling around $85 million. What’s more, Bugatti executives say that development of the next-generation Veyron won’t begin until all remaining units are sold out and that could take quite some time.
While speaking about this, sales director for the Americas John Hill said, “There will be no introduction on any new model until the Grand Sport and Vitesse are sold out. Even though we estimate we’ll be sold out within 12 months, I wouldn’t expect an announcement for a couple years down the road.”

It is somewhat worrying to think that in the 5 years the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport has been available, only about 110 units have been sold. By comparison, both the 499 units of the LaFerrari and 375 examples of the McLaren P1 sold out just weeks after the cars were revealed.

Sounds a bit like another sports car that rhymes with Diaper

Overpriced car, not a bang for the buck and selling in the past few years in a recession recovering global economy.

Not a very good mix when looking for sales. Would you rather spend 2 million or 500 thousand when things are tuff in that market.

Its like trying to sell the Viper for 130K or a 75K Corvette under the same conditions.

I think the new vette at the international auto show was only 50's...and that was a Vert...could be mistaken though.

Base price is in the 50's, which you and I know you can't get a base car. they all have options attached from the factory which brings them up to well over 70K

Not a GTS, and still doubt a base; previous gen's all four of them have held pretty good value on average. So based on history the viper, including the gen V, does and probably will sustain much less depreciation than the corvette.

Will know on Friday how the Huracan looks in person; hope they have a different car than the one shown in NYC as I think grey/silver is too subtle for a Lambo; my favorite variant on the baby bull is the Performante model, which is like a combo of the spyder and the superleggera; hope to see this variant on this new gen bull

As for the snake, gonna hold on to it until the next ACR debuts; the TA and GT variants are tempting, but only teasers for the flagship variant
