Wow, Dale Hansen reminds me of Andy Rooney :p0257:
I used to love listening to AR...

This kid has already had a tough life... I'm guessing he has a pretty thick skin by now, and it sounds like he turned all his attention to playing football... Which was probably easier than dealing with his family life...
I hope he can handle a future in the NFL, it's not going to be easy either... IF he gets drafted...

Sam is the seventh of eight children born to JoAnn and Michael Sam, Sr. His parents separated when he was young.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-father-5) As a child, Sam watched one of his older brothers die from a gunshot wound. Another older brother has been missing since 1998, and his other two brothers are both imprisoned. A sister who was born before him died in infancy.[17] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-OTL-17) At one point in his childhood, Sam lived in his mother's car.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-father-5)
Sam argued with his mother over playing football, as organized sports go against JoAnn's background as a Jehovah's Witness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah%27s_Witness). Sam often stayed with friends while in high school; the parents of a classmate gave him a bedroom in their house and had him complete household chores.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-father-5) Sam is the first member of his family to attend college.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-nytimes-2)[17] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-OTL-17)

College careerSam accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Missouri (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Missouri), after he was recruited by Craig Kuligowski (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Craig_Kuligowski&action=edit&redlink=1), the team's defensive line coach (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defensive_line_coach). Kuligowski recruited other players near Hitchcock, which made him familiar with Sam.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-unheralded-7) Sam attended the school from 2009 to 2013. He played college football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_football) for the Missouri Tigers football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missouri_Tigers_football) team, competing in the Southeastern Conference (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southeastern_Conference) (SEC). He redshirted (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshirt_(college_sports)) in his first year at Missouri, and recorded 3 1⁄2 quarterback sacks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarterback_sack), 24 tackles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tackles), including seven tackles for loss (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tackles_for_loss), two forced fumbles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_fumbles), one interception (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interception) and one blocked kick as a redshirt freshman.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-rises-3)[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-unheralded-7)
As a senior in 2013, Sam recorded 11 1⁄2 quarterback sacks and 19 tackles for a loss. He led the SEC in both categories, and tied Missouri's single-season record for sacks.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-8) He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week in two consecutive weeks, after recording three sacks apiece in games against Arkansas State University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkansas_State_University) and Vanderbilt University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanderbilt_University).[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-9) After the season, Sam was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, with C. J. Mosley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._J._Mosley) of the University of Alabama (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Alabama),[10] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-10) and a first-team all-SEC selection.[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-11) He was also named a first-team All-American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-American) by the Walter Camp Football Foundation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Camp_Football_Foundation), Associated Press (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_Press), Sporting News (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sporting_News), the American Football Coaches Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Football_Coaches_Association), and the Football Writers Association of America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_Writers_Association_of_America).[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-accomplishments-12)[13] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-13)[14] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-14)[15] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-15) He was also named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Bednarik_Award), the Hendricks Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hendricks_Award), and the Lombardi Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lombardi_Award).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-rises-3)[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-accomplishments-12)
During his college career, Sam accumulated 123 tackles, including 36 for loss, 21 sacks, six forced fumbles and two intercepted passes.[16] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-16)He graduated from Missouri in December 2013.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sam#cite_note-nytimes-2)

He's a good college football player with an interesting story, lot's of guys of like that in college football. I don't think who he chooses to have sex with or fall in love with should make him a national story. Just go out there and keep doing what you're doing and be a great football player at the next level.
