Hey guys!

I'm having an issue with my car. What happens is, when I sit in the traffic for a little longer, my battery voltage suddenly starts dropping after while and within a few seconds reaches a point where I get the "ping" noise and the red control mark lights up. After a few seconds I see how the voltage goes up again, red light goes off and everything is fine. On the next longer red light, same thing happens again.

After a while (when this happens 6-7 times) I get the check engine light and when I run the code it is P2502 (charging system error). I have a brand new battery that we tested and is good. I do however have an UNDERDRIVE PULLEY!!! Maybe this can be causing this issue??? The annoying part is the check engine light obviously. Also to add, I live in Miami so it;s hot and I always have the A/C on and the radio too..

Anyone has experience with this???

Thanks!!

Without knowing more and without examining your car (whatever the year)...based on your description, I believe you have already diagnosed the problem along with the contributing circumstances.

And, yes...this has been reported before.

I'm sure you're running your AC as well...

You have a few options with a Gen 4:

1. Ditch the U/D pulley - given your circumstances and usage, it doesn't seem like a good fit
2. Have the car tuned with HPTuners, and have the idle bumped up (somewhere between 900-950 RPMs should fix your issue) - you'd want to use the factory PCM if you do this.
3. Since you have headers and "everything that a header car needs to get done", you likely have the Mopar PCM. Any idea if you have the Arrow reflash that goes along with it? If you aren't sure, I can tell you a way to figure it out pretty quickly. If you do have the Arrow reflash, you can contact them and see if they'd be willing to bump up your idle RPM settings - you'd have to send them the PCM, but they should be able to do it. If you don't have the reflash, now might be a good time to do it, and while it's there ask them to bump up your idle RPMs.

There is no free lunch with mods, and you've found the shortcomings of running an underdrive pulley.
