Recently sold my SRT ram and in the market for a fairly well modified Gen II GTS. Open to forced induction vs NA. Well aware of the differences in model years, but open to options as long as the build was done well. Not looking to spend more than $50k. Would love to hear opinions on the subject as well.

I live in the metro Detroit area. There is a red 99 GTS for sale that's modified and blown. Search the Detroit metro Craigslist and you'll see it. I not technical enough to know how to share the link lol. I've seen the car in person it's clean.

I didnt post it on any Viper forums. Its on the corvette forum, Lamborghini talk forum, car-gurus, craigslist. Heres the info. PM me for price.

1 of 14 ACRs built for 1999 red with silver stripes. The black stripes are just vinyl wrapped on top of the factory silver. 1999 was also the last year for the forged internal motors. So it was the first year for the ACRs and last/only year for the forged motors for the ACR option. Other than the exhaust, the car is completely stock. Even the tinted tail lights can be peeled off. The white lettering on the tires can be peeled off as well. Only 42,500 miles. The car came from California so it is in fantastic shape inside and out. It does have longtube headers, high flow cats, Borla S-type mufflers, and an X-pipe which gives the V10 a truely exotic sound. 3.55 gears still new in the box. KNG SNAKE 6 rear diffuser blades. Factory 5 point harness stock with the ACR. Drives perfect, AC blows cold, new tires, new spark plugs, new "Quality Wires" red spark plug wires, new Demon coil packs. Drilled and Slotted front rotors. Factory coil-over suspension.

I saw that red GTS on Craigslist. He's asking 55K...which is way too much. It is a regular red 1999 GTS with 43K miles. If it was bone stock with 5K miles, that would be a more realistic price. Some of these owners expectations on what a high mileage GTS is worth...is a little crazy. The GTS's that are going to rise in value the most, are the stock ones with lower miles...not the modified ones.

My advice to you is, take your time and shop around. I have seen some fine examples of GTS's with mods priced right (well under 50K).

Just to be clear, this one is not mine, as mine is an ACR. (And I'm not asking 55k)

I’m keeping my eye on a 15k mi 99 car with a Roe that’s priced around $50k.

Oh for sure...ACR's are a difference ball game. I was just mainly talking about the ones with higher mileage asking too much. I did not look at your car but, regardless of miles, ACR's always bring a little more.

I can vouch for the seller and the car. Solid ACR!

Buy with confidence.

I've been toying with the idea of selling mine and getting something else.

It's a 99 ACR, Black with Silver Stripes (1 of 45).
3.55 gears, new stock LUK clutch (500 miles on it).
Aftermarket exhaust 3 inch exhaust, I'm not sure of the brand but it 3 inch mandrel bent stainless with no rear muffler.
I've never pulled the side sills to see if the mufflers are marked.
A/C, aftermarket shift knob (I think it a type of MGW knob)
Factory BBS wheels have had the faces polished and they're painted black in the inset mesh.
50K miles on it.
It's a nice car but not flawless, it has the typical scratches under the front fascia/bumper.

Thinking $40K as far as price.

Damn a lot of us ACR guys are thinking of getting something else it looks like! I've been debating getting rid of my 00 ACR red w/ silver stripes too but I feel like I might regret it a few years from now. I think selling now might not be a bad idea as the excitement of "there is no more viper" seems to slowly be wearing off. I think it will decline and be awhile before any values start going back up. Been watching the GEN V ACR prices slowly fall and I'm debating cashing out now on my GEN II ACR.

A lot of what make me consider selling is that I'm not really into Black cars. lol

I like bright and obnoxious colors on cars but I got the car on a trade deal and you don't get your choice of colors usually on trades.
It would be stupid to paint a car that the paint is fine on and I haven't seen a wrap that I really like the finish on.

I've had the same thought as to whether it's better to sell now or wait and see what the future brings as far as collect-ability and value.

I think prices are gonna settle down as the "OMG VIPER PRODUCE NO MOAR" hype fades away. But given this type of car the value will then continue it's gradual tiny climb again.

I would keep it. Unless you really want to trade for a more obnoxious color. Yellow is nice and obnoxious :smilielol:

Im not trying to cash in on "the viper is discontinued" notion... I just get bored with cars roughly every 6-10months. Im looking to get into something different, thats all. If I could afford both, Id keep the Viper haha!

I had tried to work a deal on a Yellow 2001 before the trade deal of my Black ACR happened, but the the guy that had it thought that the 572 Hemi in my previous car might have been too radical for him. lol

By the time its worth anything of value that would be worth keeping it, you won't be worth anything. Sell now and enjoy what you want to enjoy....a blue Viper

50K miles on an almost 20 year old car is nothing on a V10 that is always babied and oil changed every year. Buy what you want to buy and drive it like its your last. You'll end up buying and paying for low miles and settling for a color or combo or upgrades or none, and then end up putting miles on it, depreciating it, and it won;t even be the Viper you wanted. Buy what you want and don't be silly on thinking 50K on these cars is a lot of miles. That's ludicrous

Not sure how much alcohol you drank this morning but, my post said nothing about miles in regards to putting miles on a Viper. I was talking about people who are currently pricing their Vipers as if they had 5000-10000 or so miles on them...when they actually have 40k - 50K or higher. You will not get the same price for the latter. When it comes to re-sale value, miles do matter...and 40K+ is a lot of miles and will be worth considerably less than one with 10K. Put the bottle down and re-read the posts that I typed. :smilielol:

There is one good reason for the Viper being extinct.

Reason: It will get rid of braindead dummies.
