Hey everyone! Proud owner of a 96 GTS. Just had the driver side window quit on me and it won’t go back up. You can hear a light “click” from inside the door when you push the console switch but nothing happens.
Any suggestions?

Possibly the Nylon shuttle broke inside the drivers door? Do not operate the switch any more as you will chew up and down.

You need to take off the drivers door card and take a look see to check the glass is still attached to the shuttle. If all looks good there are a bunch of small wires that run between the bulkhead and the doors inside a rubber sheath, pull back the rubber and make sure none of the wires are broken. This is also a known problem.
You better hope its not your switches as the 96 style switches are no longer available.
Keep us posted on what you find.

My drivers side would go down but not up, took the panel apart, it turned out to be my switch. It just suddenly stopped working.
Let me know if its the same for you because I can get you a part number from a Caravan.. 96 Switch is only for a year or 2.
Also look at the wiring in the door Jamb.. wires have been know to stretch when opening and closing the door and break..

The switches are a minor fix, the regulator and cables are a pain, but fixable. The little plastic shuttles are a known issue like mentioned above. I completely over paid for mine, but they can be had fairly cheaply.

Thanks for the advice! I am pretty frustrated at this point. Do you have the part number for the switch?

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS DS1129
This is an exact replacement. All you have to do is remove the plastic cover off the original Viper switch and place it on this switch. easy-peasy.. Harness plugs right in and bolts right up..
I would just go ahead and replace it.. These switches are a known issue that can just all of a sudden fail.

Good luck.

Thanks to everybody for their advice! I actually started tapping on the window motor while holding down the switch and it started to work again. Looks like a little corrosion was the issue due to not driving it enough and using the window. Works perfectly now!
Just found out that I will be deployed overseas and will be selling my 96 GTS...only 17K miles. Please let me know if you know somebody who might be interested.

Would it be a feasible option to put the car in storage while you are over seas? Stay safe while you're gone!

I gave that some thought but my wife and I agreed to use the money for a down payment on a house since and to jump start the kids 529 college savings.

Can anyone beat bduffy13 for shortest time owning a Viper?

Just wanted to clarify that I am new to the VOA and not a new GTS owner. I have had it for over a year. Sorry for any confusion.
