Hey guys. Bought a '16 GT this week and have a small possible issue. A couple times when I start her up, the main screen stays blank. When this happens, none of the other lights et all on the center stack light up. I can push the ac and the fan changes, so it is working, just no display from the panel area. This happened twice. First time it came back on to the start up screen after about 5 mins, another time about 10. Is this a known thing with the gen5? Should I be concerned? Hate to visit the dealer unless forced to.
One other possible related thing. My nav shows the car stuck at the dealer location. I haven't found out how to reset this thing. Dealer forgot to include the owners manual, and its in the mail. Any quick fix in setup that I didn't see? Or am I making an appointmnt?!
Thanks,
Troy

Regardless of the cure, bring it back to your dealer and let them figure it out under warranty. Make the appointment.

Make sure your battery terminals are not loose. I had this once started to flicker on off and go blank. Found out it was the battery terminals that had loosened.

Congrats on the car!

Let us know if those battery connections were loose and if you need more ideas. Ultimately, City is right.... while the car is under warranty it's the right time to test the service depts near you.

Seems to be I remember a thread around here about the car being in "delivery mode" (sort of like hibernation mode). But this for a new car delivered from the factory. Still, could be related, both the center screen blank and location not working.

My 2018 Jeep GC SRT just did the same thing yesterday. Started the car and the display was blank. Radio was still on. Pressed the volume button (it has an on/off icon on it), waited several seconds and pressed it again. Everything came back on. I suspect there is some software glitch with the latest version that causes this.

If you need to take it in, you just happen to live 15 minutes away from one of the best Viper techs. I’ve seen people trailor their Viper 10 hours away for an appointment. Fields Crysler/Jeep/Dodge in Sanford, ask for Alex, he’s also a viper owner and CF/VOA president.

Thanks guys!
Hasn't happened again. Yet. I did check the batt. Tight. Will def plan a ride to sanford. Was really currious where to service this girl. Might wait until I need an oil change or it gets worse.
Thanks a million.

Looks like I've run into this now.

I've got a 2013 SRT. I wasn't going to drive it for awhile so I unplugged the battery. Before this the Uconnect screen was working fine.

Then when I plugged the battery back in and noticed that the Uconnect screen wasn't turning on.

The screen won't turn on, none of the lights on the Uconnect dash light up (like the AC button light), but the Airbag light does light up. The Fan dials still work though.

I unplugged and plugged in the battery a number of times to see if 'restarting' the car would help (I left it unplugged for a few hours, a few days, and a few minutes, still nothing).

I've also gone through all the 10, 15, 20, 25 fuses and re-seated them and still nothing :(
(And looking in the users manual I wasn't able to tell which fuse was the 'uconnect screen' fuse - does anyone know?)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

My uConnect is still doing weird things, so it's on my list of things to check at the dealership. Seems like there were some software pushes that went out recently that are causing the uConnect system to go a bit crazy. At first, I was losing my apps, and now I'm noticing that it takes a while for the screen to go from black to boot-up.

There are some things that I love about the Gen V, in fact, I love about 99% of it. The electronic crap, though, is just not doing it for me. I'd definitely recommend getting the extended warranty that covers electronics - I can only imagine what it will cost to fix the stupid system five years from now. It's times like this that I wish the Amish designed the Gen V.

Sorry I didn't post up my outcome. Think I did in other posts.
I had a date with the dealer and it turns out that the radio was toast. Replaced it and all is perfect. He tried a flash, bit something would lock or and not "take."
My symptoms were intermittent delay during startup. Would take anywhere from 5 secs to about 10 mins to come alive and give me the "accept" screen. When this happened, no other lights illuminated on te center stack but the controls would work. Weird shit for sure. I would also get a message randomly that something to the effect that my cars phone requires service. Also, the map was locked in a different location. Mine was locked at the dealer I bought it at about 250 miles away. I think they may have done an update that fried the system there. Not sure.
If its still under a warranty, take it in and request a new radio. Not sure where u r, but Fields in Sanford FL (Alex) is amazing.
Good luck,
Troy

Mine did the "delay" thing today. My car sits for weeks at a time on a battery tender. She always starts right up.

Got in this morning (sitting for 4 weeks) and like normal, she fired immediately, all systems normal. Usually the center screen takes a few seconds to come on. Today, dark. I sit in the garage for at least a minute, getting myself situated, etc. Still dark. I even hit the screen on-off button. Still nothing. As I was taking the car in for service anyway (state inspection and oil change) I figured it was good timing, at least!

Then, it came on and functioned normally. Radio, Performance Pages, etc. All normal. Just took at least 1-2 minutes. Didn't do again when I restarted at the dealer. We'll see what next time it's started. Computers are weird. Infrequently, the same screen in my Ram will also have a slight delay.

But as I said, first time in the Viper. Haven't had a UConnect (which I don't subscribe to in the Viper, just the Ram) update in the Viper in a year - it was last September.

Hopefully just a glitch from sitting. Mine would delay from 1-10 mins nearly every time. Once the "radio" was replaced, it boots up in 10 secs or so.

Yes, got in this morning, and booted up within a few seconds.

The app screen can be weird though. I have to go into Performance pages from the app, not the favorite. When the Gauge 2 page is up, and I hit the radio button, and then want to go back to the pages sometime I have to hit he app button on the App page again....but today it wouldn't respond - every other button would. So I went to the favorite, and it reloaded. Go figure.

As I said, computers are weird.....
