Dealership said my warranty

My Dealership said my 2013 FCA updated 10 year/100,000 miles Powertrain Limited Warranty was only good for my engine and not my transmission. That’s not what I remember reading here. (I can’t find it in a search) Can anyone shed some light on if my transmission is covered as well?

I would venture to guess it's only on the engine. They didn't have issues with the transmissions.

It is powertrain, which includes the transmission. Please have your dealer doublecheck with corporate.

Surely "Powertrain" means both Engine and Transmission? I would also take it to include slave cylinders Propshaft and rear diff! Why, Well because the car wont move without that lot.
Clutch is a wearable item so I would not expect that to be covered unless the mileage is a couple of hundred.

Yes, the paperwork stated it included the transmission but they are pretty sure it's not included. I am almost positive that the paperwork is correct (I have the extended warranty so no need to argue about it now.) but wanted to make sure by asking the experts.

You seem to be on solid ground then. The warranties are in writing for a reason -- so that we all understand what is covered and what is not covered. If there's any ambiguity, then it's on them. Give them another chance by pointing out the relevant language and asking them why they are unwilling to honor it.

If they still refuse, and if there are no other dealers in your area that you are willing to go to, then it may be time to find an attorney.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a federal law that applies in all states, and to all manufacturers of goods with warranties (car, boat, plane, train, lawnmower, chainsaw... you name it). An attorney will gladly help you as his/her fees are recoverable from the other side if you prevail.

It's an ironic situation now isn't it? The flagship car is gone not a dime coming into FCA from the Viper program but all these cars out there with various potential issues that will cost them millions in warranty work over time. Not surprised they would do anything to get out of repairing a car under warranty even parsing the wording in an actual warranty itself.

I had a 2014 effected by R28. And was told by my dealer that the entire powertrain was extended. He even gave me the printout from dealerconnect, showing this.

Extended warranty sales are a huge profit maker for the manufacturers and dealers. Nothing is ever sold at a dealership that isn't making money for all parties involved.

Extended warranties are just an insurance policy based on statistics and the reality is insurance companies are uber profitable.

Generally speaking you are correct, but with these cars, I’m not so sure the odds are in favor of the party issuing the warranty.

C'mon Harold, I know...I have a love/hate with mine sometimes as well. But it's like women - you give up because of the BS, and then you're back in the dating pool (or at least trying, like me!)

There's some good cars out there. I have an itch for a GT3 - but the Viper would have to go, along with some cash! And I don't want the Viper to go! (And I don't have the cash....)

I like my dealership, I just think they’re misinformed. It was just a question I had about the future of my warranty. No big deal, yet I was hopeful to ge a definitive answer here. Can’t be the hardest question this forum has answered. 😁

I, and a couple others, gave you the answer. It covers the transmission, driveshaft, diffs, anything part of the powertrain. Your dealer is misinformed.

"Limited" is a dangerous word. Read the fine print and fully understand it. This way when they try to deny you coverage, you can do their job for them and explain the warranty. I went to one Jeep dealership and was denied warranty coverage....Went to another dealership and was covered. Interpretation is a @#$%.
