I don’t go to church all the time and I probably should since my wife is the pianist and my five year old daughter goes every week as well. So today I decided to drive the Viper to church. I’ve never driven it before and it’s funny when you see the faces of Southern Baptist church folks when you pull up. I mean the typical Southern Baptist in North Carolina drives a white four door sedan or white conservative SUV. I’m sure today there was some talk around the lunch table about the black Viper with VENOM on the tag in the parking lot. It’s funny when I fill up with gas I always have someone tell me how cool the Viper is. Today it was the total opposite. It was like they wanted to stay away for something strait from the gates of Hell! These cars really do give you that get the Hell out of my way attitude and stereotype even in a place of worship. I’m good with it though. LOL!

Just tell them you’re running against a democrat in a local race and they’ll support your car habit (and apparently just about anything else too).

Sad but true, to both posts.

Now that is a good one. Too many skeletons in my closet to run for office. LOL. I wouldn’t dare put myself through the underhanded scrutiny that comes with politics. I mean if you have slapped a girl on the butt in elementary school and asked a girl to prom then Gloria Allred will take that and run your name in the ground.

Interesting, I have driven my cars to church all the time. I don't have the same impression.

But nobody knows what a demon is, they’d have to see that tiny badge and obviously they’d hear the loud exhaust, but it would be just another big ass USS challenger.

I’ve taken my viper to church and I was getting looks too, I’m 33 and I don’t know if it was surprised looks or hateful. I also take the vrod which gets the same looks. I just nod at the people looking and carry on.

I've drove mine to church a few times. I'm a pretty low key guy normally and nobody really notices our family. After I drove the viper, everyone knew who I was. Nothing too negative, just a few of the "what do you do for a living" or "must be nice". I'm also 33 like Serpent, so I think some of the questions and commments come from how a "younger" guy has a car like that.

I had a riot with the Priest at Church with the Viper (04 Paxton and moderately loud). I gave some kids a ride after and it ended up being a good time.

Where I had the worst experience was actually a VOA meet. Back in 03 I had a heads/cam/stroker 01 ACR. The VOA prez came by the car and asked "who's it was, what was done?" After going over it he said "Your dad lets you drive this, I wouldn't let my kid touch it!" I told him it was mine and he said "Bull Shit" and walked off. I was 24 at the time. Real fucking asshole that dork was. Wife was with me at the time and she said if I ever join VOA we where getting a devorse.

Safe to say....I never joined.

Thank you for that bit of clarity uvbnbit! Whiskey's got some obvious issues with the letters "C" and "i".

Anyway, this is NOT work safe ... AT ALL. But "remotely appropriate".

One thing I never do is drive the Viper to work around my customers. In the industry I’m in I work around a lot of blue collar honest hard working folks so I never want to flash something like that around. A lot of them laugh at me because they see me in my everyday driver Fiat Abarth. Every now and then I drive my 2500 Ram because that’s what a lot of them drive so they don’t think I’m some kind of tree hugging granola bar eating nut job. :orange:

I think it's just that atmosphere that gets you funny looks. Many years ago I dated an extremely pretty girl in a very religious town. We got the stink-eye every Sunday from most of them. I don't know if it was her boots, tight dress pants, or my T-top Camaro Berlinetta...but they were pretty cold to us. I wouldn't dare park the Viper around those psychos today. That town was all about doing whatever you want during the week behind closed doors and saying sorry on Sunday. I miss her more than I miss the Camaro. ;)

Why is that? The same folks will invite you over to show you their their new house, or their garden/pool/deck, etc. but if you bust your butt, save and buy a Viper, you're a braggart. Odd.

Hey Whiskey, if you haven't tried it yet, look for some "Tin Cup" LINK (http://www.tincupwhiskey.com/).
Was at a neighbors house last Sunday and was forced to drink some.

I don’t know. I do work hard but I feel really fortunate for everything that I do have. What makes me happy most about having a Viper is driving a Viper and not the look at me aspect of it. A lot of the guys I work with are just everyday hourly wage type guys and I need them to buy my products so I can have the toys and good life. I feel like if I show it off they will think I don’t need the sales or business. I’m sure they would be fine with it but there is that side of me that says stay low key.
I think the best thing that ever happened in the Viper was one day when a group of elementary school kids were all crossing the crosswalk and the kids were drooling all over the car. That was pretty cool! The teacher on the other hand just kind of gave me a blank look. lol

I'm a 'blue collar' worker so to speak. In the trades. Guys I work with and customers I deal with know I have a Viper. They start by saying I must make too much blah blah etc. Then I ask them how much their new pickup cost them. That usually ends the conversation lol. I worked hard and earned my Viper.
And yes, I drive it to church too, as often as I can. I can even fit my bass guitar in the 'trunk'!!
