What sizes you looking for? I can check with a few of my vendors and see what I can get shipped directly to you for. I doubt savings would be significant, if any. But, ya never know :D

I am hoping that with all the recent cold weather that Hoosiers will be overstocked this spring.

.........but in reality, they will just probably have their annual price increase instead of a clearance sale.
-I haven't even looked yet.

The PSS are cheaper than the PS2, I believe

I just pulled my PSS fronts today, I had a bit of wear on the insides. I have driven the shit out of these tires, and gotten close to 18K miles on these now. Backs still not to the wear bars....

I need a pair of Pirelli P zeros 345/25/20's or something with the equivalent diameter otherwise I could go 345 30 20's Michelins but I would need to adjust the coil overs for some extra room. Either way , I need new back tires.

Thanks for the kind words.... since you asked, PartsRack has SRT10 OE-sized Super Sports at $1329 per sit of 4. I think that is the least-cost they have been since the 'inuagural special' of $1299/set. ....................Hoosieres wont likley have any sale just prior to race season................... Tire prices do change slightly, like clockwork, every month. Michelins have been very steady/stable, but a USdollar vs Euro swing can have an affect..... It is almost impossible to predict a sale..... and BEWARE of some occasional flea-bay-sources that claim to offer European blems, not DOT-stamped. Usually come from Belgium/Rotterdam. Older. Sidewalls 'burnished' of data.

Jon, I can't find these for that price on your website. Do we have to call it in? I am also in the market for tires, as well as an underdrive pulley, IAC if you have them, and maybe some of the other little stuf you sell before spring hits.

Lots of people chiming in. The words 'group buy' start swirling with this much interest. :)

Ill be the 1st to admit I do a crummy job of keeping my website as current as I should...........Sorry.........but "if It Fits On or In a VIPER" is my serious motto, and I try to price as thinly as I can to survive!. Tire gross profits are actually single digits! I have sliced very thin to be lower than online tire giants....but I am ! A group buy on tires in not feasible unless sent to ONE location............

Can someone post up the general differences between the PS2 and SS? And maybe the Pirelli version?

This is from the Motor Trend Test link below

Michelin's in-house testing, performed at the Michelin Technology Center, helped identify six key areas in which the Michelin Pilot Super Sport outperforms its predecessor, the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2:

Road-holding on dry surfaces: Tests showed a 1.5-second gain on a 2,700-meter closed-circuit track.
Braking on dry surfaces: When decelerating from 100 km/h to a full stop, braking distance was shortened by 1.5 meters.
Road-holding on wet surfaces: Time was reduced by 2.5 seconds on a 4,100-meter closed-circuit track.
Braking on wet roads: When decelerating from 80 to 10 km/h, braking distance was shortened by 3 meters.
Total mileage on the track: 50% more laps.
Total mileage on the road: 10% greater distance.

Thanks Pete! I made the addition as noted. I didn't realize the Super Sport was better across the board. Guess that's what I'm going with in April!

With 10% more road mileage, I can surely keep them for a good 50,000 miles! LOL

As others have mentioned, tires aren't marked up much at all. The only time a good sale comes around is when a model gets discontinued. Tire shops have to earn their money on the installation labor and selling those road hazard warranties. On a $1500 set of tires, I'd be lucky to earn....$40. Not an exaggeration. That is why I don't even list tires on my website, places like TireRack.com and DiscountTireDirect.com have streamlined the process and shaved the profits away.

I remember feeling giddy when I first got a wholesale tire account. Then I saw the prices weren't much different, and then I felt sadness.

:)

Another tire vendor is correct. Y'all note the consistencies? Locally, I rely on reputation, workmanship, and quality of work. Although I can usually beat the local Sams, Walmart, Costco, Discount Tire, etc on price, I also offer the fact that I know what I'm doing and not some "trained" kid messing with your tires and torquing everything down at 130 ft lbs. lol. What I have problem with is offering lifetime rotate/bal, road hazard warranties, etc (which I do not offer), but most don't realize it is a marketing effort to get you back in their shop to sell you something else "wrong" with your vehicle.

Ok. Rant is over :t0135:

FYI 3 years ago we had 2 cars in 1-lap on PSS/PS2; last year BOTH rode PSS. PSS are also newer and $200 less costly per set than PS2. $1349 vs $1549

PartsRack sponsored a PS2 vs PSS test for IL-IN-KY Viper owners at TireRack...on VIPERS! We sent spare wheels, and Luke mounted em. Drivers that showed (no charge) had the TireRack Pit Crew swap wheels and Owners autocorossed each. Here is the comparo:

http://www.viperpartsrack.com/Pilot_Super_Sport_PS2_Track_Test

[It is our HOPE that since we step up and do things like this for the Viper Nation, we might get a chance to earn $50 / set of 4 tires from time to time ! Thank You!]

Great info Jon, but one comment you listed should have everyone paying the most attention --both cars were on PSS for the 1 lap this past year. Likely the key that was not noted in the earlier
test is though the PS2 seemed to heat up a bit quicker in cool temps, those of us that have seen them run rigorously on Autocross tracks will tell you they eat up the outside edge super quickly.
Not the case with the PSS, so with longer tread life and less expensive , no wonder Tire Rack ( Luke ) and PartsRack ( Jon ) promote the PSS -- really is a better choice in my mind. Plus , and Jon
can confirm the rumor, the compounding has been slightly changed since the test 3 years ago, and the new PSS is superior in all aspects.

If anyone knows of a place I can get 345/25/20 Pirelli P Zeros or equivalent, I would appreciate it. I know The Pirellis have been discontinued since 08. Not sure if they are a good choice considering that fact.

Any suggestions on tires and or a place to get them. I am in Toronto, Canada so, shipping costs would have to be factored in the overall price.

Or....

Should I just lift the car slightly to accommodate a 345/30 profile and have more options available.

Confirmed on all points, and YES: The key telling-point is that PSS is the tire-of-choice in One-Lap, a mish-mosh of Street-autocross-track-highway that will put a tire thru its paces like no other owner would likely EVER do.

Good call, Ill be getting these too. The edge's on my stock PS2 are worn hard from my track days. Im also looking at getting another set of wheels and tires for the track. Im trying to decide on Hoosiers or Sport Cups. Also for wheels I have the 6-spoke which I love for the street but Im thinking black sidewinders for track wheels (need something to cover up the brake dust)
