Hi Guys
Really need some feedback here if possible. I'd really like to hear from those who have done Stage 2 H&C mods on their car AND use the car hard regularly either in autocross or regular track work. I am very interested to do something similar and even go further to do 9L conversion but as I use my car primarily for track I need a car that does not regularly overheat as a result, in prolonged hard usage, otherwise it is pointless for me to do it. So really would appreciate hearing from you. Many thanks

I use my mainly for track use only with the occasional street driving, have about 5000km 80% was on track. Knock on wood no issues or overheating issues. Although I'm from a hot region in the world (Kuwait) track day temps are usually mid 20C when I take my car on track. Oil temps reach 108C to 112C after a couple of hot laps but by then I need a break myself. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 9.0L kit later on after I modify the suspension first and will probably add a dry sump as a precaution for ease of mind and as I run slicks on my car. I would suggest that you look into changing your 5th gear ratio as I not having the same downforce and the car just hits a wall in 5th gear. A trans and diff oil cooler as well for track use. As this is what I'm planning to do with my car.
Good luck

Yousif

Thanks Yousif, that's good to hear. Indeed I will be adding diff and trans cooler and will be looking at a .81 5th and 3.33 final drive(or thereabouts as its proving difficult to find a 3.33 these days). As dry sump packaging is somewhat more challenging and involved I was thinking instead of an Accusump as alternative ...

Ask Arizona Vipers he has 9.0L and tracks the car hard, it is a killer car!

May I ask why the change in the final drive to 3.33 ? A dry sump is a challenge thus I'll ship my car to the states and do all the modifications an Accusump is a solution but I still haven't read any feedback although its a way cheaper alternative.

For the tracks that I'm on(Spa, Silverstone, Ring) it will allow me to hold on to 3rd and 4th gear on some of the corners and straights. I got Dick Winkles advice, and he basically said the Ring track record car would have been better optimised with this sort of drive as well-and it will suit me at Spa and Silverstone as well..
I'll be shipping the car to Prefix to do all the work from the UK.

Mark J at Woodhouse has a kitted Accusump. I have one on my car, probably 3 hours to install. The dry sump has a lot of advantageous, but, try and find a safe place to house the tank. You also have a minor issue in that the tank location does change the CG and/or weight distribution

Stradman,
I've got the H&C stage II and love it. I've been on Road Atlanta, Daytona, and Sebring with no overheating issues. I do have the Doug Shelby catch cans and intake heat shield. The car runs flawless and I highly recommend the VE stage II heads and cam with the titanium exhaust and Arrow tune. The car is phenomenal! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey that is very encouraging and am glad that you are experiencing no problems with hard use. Its this sort of stuff from people that use their modded vipers that I need to hear and evaluate. Many thanks

Yes thanks Jack. The only problem is that the DSE heat shield limits the space to put it in the front so would have to get rid of that to put tank in. So need to think carefully about the trade off....

Mark's kit almost looks like it came from the factory. I put the insulation/radiant barrier on the air box.
