Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what it is? This is the 3rd time I am doing diff fluid change and this one only had 1 track day on it.

Doesn’t look good (or plastic). If it is plastic the only thing I could think of is bearing cage or if it’s flexible a little extra sealant that got squished inside during assembly.

Doesn’t look good...
Yea not good.

Check this post from SlowHatch with all kinds of pics of a Trans tear-down. LINK (https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/16278-The-time-has-come-Sneakysnakes-is-for-sale?p=270301&viewfull=1#post270301)
I think you can identify some of those plastic looking pieces from the photos. Guides and spacers etc...

Hope this helps.

That's a Gearbox tear down, Not a rear Diff.

Yea yea. Some of the bits look awfully similar, no?

I rebuild these diffs all the time, does it feel like silicone?? FCA, uses grey silicone to seal the rear cover to the housing. It looks like some excess broke off on the inside.

If so you are fine, don’t worry about it

Looks like sealant to me. Like asked above, does it feel hard or pliable?

Thanks for all the insight. It is pliable so I am guessing Garron is right on it being the grey silicone seal. It did freak me out for a bit as I didn't see it coming off first 2 oil changes.
