Low cost options are Track-Addict and Harry's Lap Timer.
Both are available for IOS and Andriod OS. Track-addict was more reliable from what I recall.
You will need an ODB2 adapter that can talk to your phone and Track-Addict will collect the data from the ODB2 device.
The ODB2 adapter is limited to what ever is available through the ODB2 protocol.
There are 36 channels available, below are some.
Engine Coolant Temp
Fuel Level
Throttle Actuator
Air/Fuel Ratio
Intake Air Temp
Calculated Load
Throttle Position
Ambient Air Temp
Engine Speed
Vehicle Speed
Timing Advance
Intake Manifold Pressure
The oil-pressure is NOT available through the ODB2 protocol, but can be read directly from the CANBUS via the ODB2 connector. I use Racelogic's VBOX HD2, which collects data not available through the ODB2 protocol but present on the CANBUS.

^^^ What he said
I've been using Track Addict but so far my results have been somewhat mixed. When it works, it's pretty good but unfortunately, it doesn't always pick up the fact that the car is moving.
I tried to start the logging manually but it seems that it times out sometimes; I had a track day recently where I had to wait at the start finish tower for some 5 minutes because they had to clean up the track.
When the thing works, then it's somewhat easy to use Race Render to do the overlay and whatnot.

If you're using a phone, it'll be dependent on the phone signal..at the Track. Something to consider.
I took BleedVipers advice and went with the AIM Solo DL with direct connect to the OBDII. Works practically hands free.

I've been real happy with the race chrono pro app, especially the post session analysis. I pair that with and obd link mx and an xgps 160.

I have Racer Chrono too but I haven't tried it yet. Can you export the data to something like Race Render as well?

Yes I know they have vbo export for circuit tools for sure but I believe race render as well.

I've used an AIM solo DL for the past couple of years and had great success when processing with Dashware. I just tried out this setup and found it even easier to use. Garmin VIRB Ultra30 paired with ODBLink MX. Here is a sample from a recent event: http://viper.c-myweb.com/Tracks/HMRC/2017/2017.html Still use the Solo for lap times.

I recently bought a Waylens system but haven't tried it yet. I'm replacing my Racelogic Vbox system which I did not like at all. The Waylens records video and can log data from the OBD II.

I have the Virb Ultra 30 and really like it. Connects to OBDII, and has a GPS refresh rate of 10hz instead of the 1hz most phones have.
0 issues so far, and it's very accurate.
