So I just got this car a week ago and I noticed the drivers side window does not always work. So, when I close the door, the window did not retract to clear the frame. Then the window POPS back into place and it scares me every time because of the loudness of it.

Also, it seems to be very random, but sometimes I will try to roll the window down and it works. However, at other times, like today, it just doesn't work. It has only ever happened while rolling down. Never up.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks guys and gals
Shawn

Sounds like it may be the regulator. Id start there. :)

Thank you. The regulator is $260 dollars. Hopefully I can get a little more insight. Thanks again :)

Really not sure what is wrong...but I would start simply and on the cheap: While I suspect the window switch(about $30), I would first try smart glass relearn procedure as outlined in owners manual. If no change , consider changing the switch. After that, take a look at the wiring as it enters the door. While these regulators are a pain, the bad ones that I have seen did not malfunction in the way you are describing. Others may have better insights.

No problem. It's extremely common for the regulators to go out on GEN III-V. I replaced my pass side OCT of last year and my driver side regulator broke in SEPT of this year.

Thanks Steve. My car didn't have the manual when I purchased it, but it looks like I found it here : https://www.mopar.com/moparsvc/tweddle/publications?id=1574

However, I cannot find the section you are referring to.

What issues were you having with your windows, if you don't mind me asking?

To be honest I wasn't having a long series of issues. One day I rolled up the window (both of them actually did the same thing) and when the window got to the top I heard a loud pop. The pass side acted different when it broke vs the driver side. The pass side would roll too far up. For example, if the door was open and you rolled it up, the window would drop down a bit when it got to the top to allow clearence when you closed the door. Or it would roll too far down into the door. The driver side was different, all works normally except when the window rolls down it vibrates the door. Not violently but way more then it should.

Very interesting. Thank you so much for your insight.

One of our Arizona members has gone through 5 of them. 3 at the original 1500 dollar price. At least they are cheaper now.

Anyway, OP, I would do the re learn first as was suggested. Any chance your battery is dying/getting old? After that, regulator is the statistical probability. I had one break as I was driving home from the dealership where I had the other one fixed. It's a common problem

Driver's side first and I can hear the passenger side starting to grind. I waited, luckily, for the serious price reduction as Vprbite mentions above!

I bet it's the regulator. Both of mine went out in the first month of ownership.
