Brake lights staying on

Hi all,

I recently picked up a 2015 Viper GT. I'm having issues with the brake light staying on for well over 15 minutes after exiting the car, regardless if I lock the car or not. Any help is appreciated!

Brake lights along with Stryker logo stay on. Headlights are off.

It could be a faulty brake light switch.

Mine does it too. It seems like a glitch in the hill assist system, but hard to say. I find that if I tap the brakes twice after I shut off the car they don’t stay on. I should probably let the dealer look at it, but it makes me nervous. I have messed with the brakes with attached to the pedal and it has some movement in it, allowing it to work slightly away from the pedal tab that pushes on it.

Quick update because I figured out the issue and a permanent fix.

The brake light switch is the same one used in many different Dodges. The plunger length is adjustable, and mine was pushed in too far, not making good contact with the brake pedal. Simply pull the ratcheting plunger out while pushing on the brake pedal and it will re-adjust. Or remove the switch by rotating counter-clockwise to unlock it from the brake pedal, pull out the plunger, then re-install the switch. 5 minute fix, and no need for a new switch unless the ratcheting mechanism of the plunger is weak or damaged.

You're exactly right. I had mine replaced by the dealership last week and all is fine now.

Yes, thank you... was driving me nuts! Took a whole 30 seconds to take the plunger off and then put it back on again... problem gone!
