View Full Version : Check your rear wheel liner if you track
Discovered this during a rear pad change last month:
28957
Rear settings: stock wheels, stock tires, -1.0 Camber, Toe in 0.2, SRT recommended track height, Wing in Pos. 1
This is in the front side of the rear left wheel well. You could see carpet inside that hole. I put a piece of speed tape over it and will be taking it to the dealer when the track season is over.

ek1, my G4 tore up the rear inner liners. Where it happens with G4's is at the top, and once you break the liner there is a bolt that will start to grove your tire.
Suspect, similar to G4's, its the ride height in combination with the tracks you frequent. I was able to buy used liners fairly cheaply as all 03's-'10's used the same. I've got to believe the G5 versions are fairly pricey and limited used ones are available.

Mine have holes, cracks, and are usually pulled out of place after sessions. Would there be any harm in just removing them?

Are the tires really rubbing that far up due to the suspension compressing or would that be from the latteral Gs?
Is the rubbed mark on the right outsider side of the tire? What was your hot PSI?

No visible rub marks on the tires, hot pressures are 32 psi in the Michelin’s. My guess is both high compression loads in high speed corners.

Retail on each rear liner is $305 and there are stock available to order. FYI.

Obviously not enough clearance between tire and liner. Would that not be a warranty item?

Would not know until you tried to claim it, likely they would deny because it only happens on the track and never would at the factory "delivered" ride height... but you never know till you try.

Hopefully the wing won't detach at speed if the AOA is adjusted from the delivered position!
I've also got a liner hole on the TA and it's not even adjustable nor altered. Not enough factory clearance...seems pretty straight-forward.
If the ACR's adjustable height suspension is intended to be user adjustable for ride height, whether for street use or track, then it should be able to do so without eating itself. We're not talking about ripping the splitter off because you lowered the car and hit something, but rather the factory didn't allow enough wheel clearance to actually adjust the adjustable suspension. Now if it only rubs if the owner is using a larger diameter tire then that would be on the owner.
Not sure whether it happens on the street or track would even be relevant. Maybe Dodge needs to do a recall to adjust the installation of the liner to provide required clearance or to replace with a redesigned liner that provides enough clearance from the tire.
Is this something that would be appropriate for a dealer to discuss with the appropriate person at Dodge?

The liners are formed pretty much around the components under them so where these are rubbing may not have room for a redesign... as far as contacting anyone at SRT well they seem to be disappearing daily so no I do not have a contact left for this. My G4 car rubbed through in the same spot and on top where screws together, warranty did not cover them back then that is why I said what I did about warranty, can't believe things would have gotten better since then.
