First off I had an idea that came from the corvette forum please don't flame me I do also own a vette. I want to propose a sticky thread where it has the fastest 1/4, 1/2 and mile speeds along with mods. There are so many events where Vipers do this but rarely do we ever hear about ones unless they break a world record. Similar to something like this:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/performance-results-108/
Anyway back to my original post anyone who has a stock Viper what was your fastest mile speed at an event. Or if you have just boltons what was your topspeed. To date my fastest pass was 173.8mph all stock and this winter I plan to do a full bolt-on setup to see what the difference is. I would like to see how my car stacks up against others as time goes on. My goal is to break 180mph and still be on the factory computer running 91 octane. Nebraska sucks there are a few pumps that claim they are 93 but I am suspicious.
Here is my 173.8mph run from back in June of 2016

My personal best in the standing mile was 183.7 at The Mojave Mile in April 2016. I ran my completely stock 2014 GTS coupe with street tires.

Wow. I thought Mojave ran 1.5 mile. If not that's a crazy outlier of a car. My understanding is the official mile record for a stock Viper is around 171mph so to beat that by so much is incredible. Congrats.

Agreed Holy crap 183.7 if that was just one mile that is amazing for a stock car.
So the one that ran last week is actually this event same location as Mojave Mile just a different group of people that run it. Runway Racing LLC
https://www.runwayracingllc.com/
This event is limited to just 25 cars so you can easily get upwards of 15+ runs with little to no wait time. Only issue is cost I did it back in October of 2016 and it was $2,500 for the day. However, if you have the funds and would love to just hotlap your car all day long I highly recommend it. Also another thing they are pretty cool with is passengers.
I ran 213 at this one in my vette with makes 800 to the wheels on a 200 shot.

Where is that site/video taken, it is like racing on a access road between two corn fields. A tire issue would be fatal.

It pretty much is just a highway in between two small towns. The surface itself is amazing the concrete is only a couple years old so traction is perfect. However you are correct there is zero room for error and a tire failure would be game over. To be honest until I did the Mojave event all the other ones I have done were at smaller venues. Mojave was unreal to me the margin for error was basically gone compared to what I was used to. I have competed at the www.sorcrace.com for 13 years which is a different road than the Viper one. This particular road sucks it is an oil based pebble type surface and it is slick as hell. Plus add in the crown in the road and you have a pucker factor times 10. My goal is to start going to some of the bigger events on runways to keep things a bit safer. Next year I plan to hit the same event the Viper video was shot at with both the Viper and Vette. Then hopefully go to SORC, Texas and Colorado Mile.

boldtx, I couldn't resist peeking into that link for the Corvette fast 1/4 mile list. I was shocked to see how many "stock" C7Z guys are running in the 10s!! I spanked one around my local road course but I've never seen one at our drag strip. I know the Vipers can do it too, but I guess some of us are not worthy enough to see better than low 11. Now I'm a bit more nervous to drag those guys if I ever get to! LOL

Calling BS. You got a slip? You would need heads and cam or nitrous to go that fast.
Burnyzz did my tune. 600whp.

Yeah the corvette boys are pretty competitive on that site. And most events I go to its 70% corvette fanboys. I know the C7 Z06's that I have seen run close to stock form in the 1/2 and Mile has been pretty disappointing. Don't get me wrong I do like my vette and dollar for dollar its far cheaper to make fast compared to my Viper. My overall goal has always been to break 200 in the standing mile and the vette for me was the cheapest way to get there. Now the goal is to slowly ratchet up the HP for the Viper and see how close I can get. As much as I would like to go the twin turbo route kits starting at 60k is out of my price range.

Most of the time these numbers don't actually provide any useful data to use for estimating anything. People don't usually list (or even know) all the variables to do a useful comparison, i.e. Tires (type, age, wear), weather (DA), surface (prepped or not), horsepower, weight reduction (sprung, unsprung, rotational mass), wind speed and direction, Aero, Official Timing organization and equipment used, etc. That's just some of the variables. Most people just give Name, date, speed, car, horsepower (sometimes and maybe accurate). And people will say it's stock, except they fail to mention some things they changed.
These are just fun numbers and that's really all.

You are exactly right its all for fun which is why I started the thread. By no means did I expect an official deal where all variables are present. The goal is to make it more or less a bragging deal and hopefully get people out and do some of these events. I have little experience in the 1/4 game so I cannot speak to this. As for the 1/2 and Mile stuff I have been following it for the last 15 years and truly do realize all the variables. Most events I have ever been to have had a headwind. This last year we had a tailwind of 20+mph depending on the cars they were 10mph faster that day. As we all know not all are honest when they produce their number whether its HP or speeds. Heck I follow Nitrous Outlet quite a bit and the amount of cheater packages they offer is pretty hilarious. Everyone is trying to be sneaky to get an edge.

Reason i call BS is because I have seen 7 Gen V run the 1/2 mile and the fastest i have seen was 163 on a H/C car. The fact that you say you are faster with only headers is highly doubtful. No disrespect intended.
I raced the living shit out of my car with Toyos a tune and full exhaust and best I could do is 157. For you to find an additional 6 mph there has to be some big difference.
Do you have different rear end? If it does then that's likely the reason.

Alright guys I started to fill the top out with whats on this page. Obviously tons are missing at this point I will start to search the web and add to it. And whomever wants to chime in with different peoples speeds they know of let me know.
Also at this point in regards to mods I will just list the speeds and forum member name. That way if anyone has any secret sauce they can keep it secret.

My runs were all from a 40-45mph roll. That's how the event was run that day. Car is stock, except for the exhaust & tune. Were your runs from a dig?
boldtx
09-28-2017, 05:06 PM
The dig races are odd to me. I have no experience but have had people tell me that they are actually slower at the roll races as opposed to a dig. I don't know how one would be faster when they hit the start line at 40mph. Granted I have no personal experience so there is that. In the results we can put the caveat that ones are from a dig and roll race. Especially since the roll race format is very popular with the 1/2 mile races.

That was always my thought starting with momentum in the right gear should always net a higher speed.

I had a couple runs just above 165. However, I can't back them up with a slip. I think all the runs posted though, should be backed up with a slip..
