Had the check engine light and 0 PSI warning show up when i fired the car up over the weekend.
The dealer says the sensor just went bad. Should know more later this week.
Anyone else have this issue?

One more thing. I asked the dealer if he had one in stock and to cross reference to see if it was a reused part from other cars. He didn't have one in stock but did tell me that it was the same sensor as the 09 caravan lol

Yip, I've had one replaced. Pretty common it seems...

This is apparently a known issue across the FCA vehicle line, especially Jeeps. My Viper tech says he replaces these all the time, on many different cars/

I guess its a good thing that its just a sensor.

I had to have the sensor replaced on my 14 Grand Cherokee SRT. Pressure was pegged. My dealer stocks many of them because they fail so often.

my oil pressure sensor varies 10 psi when driving 75psi to 85psi and 48psi to 58psi at idle the gen 5 tech at Brunswick Auto Mart said its normal he wouldn't replace it called SRT the were no help

It will play yo-yo at idle, usually on my car it's around 35PSI at idle when the car is hot but it goes 35 to 42 and everything in between.
As long as the PSI doesn't drop too low consistently, you're fine. Don't just rely on that sensor though, check your oil level after each fill up.

Sometimes you can tell a bad sensor just by turning the car on in "ACC" mode and watching the gauge. I know that's how I diagnosed a bad sensor in my Grand Cherokee - in ACC mode (engine off, obviously), the oil pressure would bounce around from 10-20 psi. That won't help if it's showing zero psi, but for most of us who have gauges that are all over the place, give it a try.

That's good to know. I think if/when this happens to mine, I'd be inclined to have it flatbedded. I mean, 99.99% chance it's the sensor, but why risk it?

Having oil in the pan doesn't mean there's oil pressure. If it reads 0, may be the pump.

Your dealer is correct, mine went bad as well,it went from zero to pegged, it is the same part used in a bunch of FCA cars

My oil pressure sensor is starting to act up. I purchased a new one and was curious if anyone has any tips on the best way to go about changing it.
Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Symptoms? You're sure it's only the sensor?

Oil levels have been good, 99.9% its the sensor only way for me to tell would be to change it out. Not using or running it until thats done.

AZTVR, thanks for finding that post. I have searched for this and any others that may add info for this job. Hard to get your hands in there and undo the plug so you can remove the sensor.

Your welcome. I had remembered reading it and I keep a file on things that I should be aware of as a prospective Gen V owner and since I am a DIY guy.

Does the oil need to be drained before swapping this sensor?

Not at all. Changed mine out sometime ago. Just tough to get to.

I actually thought it was fairly easy. I read the horror stories. I think it’s a matter of proper tools. Work it from the front instead of the top.
From the front... Go in with a 27mm, 12 point deep socket... Attach it to the sensor and then fish in a long ratchet. In my case, I used a 30" torque electric torque wrench. Once it was loosened up, I went back in with my 1/2 electric ratchet and pulled it the rest of the way out. To get it back in, I used assistance from my wife, lol. She went in from the top and got it started. Once it was started I did the same thing in reverse. Electric ratchet and finished it with the torque wrench.
