I'm curious to see what people think will happen over the next few years with low mileage gen 5 cars.. do you think they will stay where the are now, go up, or down? contemplating selling my TA and only have 1000 miles on it.. but I don't need to sell it and if the theory is they will go up ill keep it covered in the garage like its been the last 2 years.. I don't foresee a ford GT or manual Ferrari/ GT3 up swing situating but what do you guys think the future will look like for these cars as far as $$$..?
thanks

Just make note: Seeing that your Viper is just sitting, I bought a 2002 GTS that just sat for years. It only had 5900 miles on it. When I drove away with it, the water/moisture in the differential had rusted the bearings and gears by just sitting there for 9 years at the last owners garage.
As per your question: are they going to go up or down in value. I believe that they will sit for a while then start to go up. I watched that happen to the Jaquar XKE. People always complaining that the jags were always breaking down, hard to tune up, rusted too easily, nobody wanted to work on them, etc, etc. Now they are up in the $70,K range. But with the Viper being hand built in the USA, and it's original intent of being a race car, being made street legal. Instead of a Corvette, being a production car, made into a race car. I believe that they will go up in value. But, just not sure when!

If you dont mind sitting on it and having a very strict recorded maintenance schedule for not just fluids but tires (keeping the originals) and also startups, warm ups and occasional light driving, i am sure you will get around 10-20k more as a rough estimate. That is truly if you stay around that mileage as there are going to be sub 1k mile examples show up.
I totally get and almost envy owners who have big collections of cars and have a regular exotic to tool around with but I question if it is worth it with the viper. I completely understand the value and investment of people getting 918s, Ford GTs and others that can be flipped for over double if you are on "the list." Personally I think its way easier to enjoy the viper, get high resale and make 10k spending less mental effort on a stock, startup, or a piece of art than on predictive resale and uptic indicators of the dodge viper. Too much risk while certainly sacrificing reward for me personally but I dont have a collection and place high value on driving. That is my take at least.

with the known issues on the Gen V's, I'd much rather have a car that's been driven hard with some miles on it. My thinking is that issues are going to surface earlier sooner than later.
I bought used and don't have a single issue...

The last of the Vipers is a nice collector piece for yourself if you are a car nut/Viperholic. If not, I wouldn't bank on the price appreciation bit.
Personally, I think they do go up, but that's not a good enough reason to keep a car that you are not driving. Any price appreciation will take some time to be realized, and then what? Are you going to sell it, when it's worth $150k? Why bother worrying about it?
Now, if this car is a childhood dream car, or one of your favorite "must have" cars, then you need to keep it regardless of the valuations. That's me. I think the prices will go up... I hope the prices do go up.... but, even if they do, my car isn't going anywhere. So, who cares?

There's half a dozen other threads regarding this exact topic.
No one knows whether vipers will appreciate, maintain value, or depreciate, including our very own valuation guru Policy Limits. Future sellers may ask whatever their heart desires, but in the end it also takes willing buyers to dictate the market value.

I have a climate controlled garage so rust is not an issue thankfully. I do take the car out at least once every few months for a 10 mile or so drive to keep things moving and to not get flat spots. oil / filer is changed ever 12 months even though the mileage doesn't call for it. I also did the trans and diff oil at this years service in April since I was at 1000 miles.. I have a bunch of cars and want to buy a new toy but I am out of garage bays so one has to go and im trying to see what would be the best choice as for selling one... that's the reason for this post, just trying to get some feed back.. seems I drive this car the least.. unfortunately im a busy guy so Im not on the forums often so sorry if this was posted already.

describe the other cars and we'll suggest whether the Viper should be the one being sold or not :)

I'll buy your white TA if you want to sell it. As far as appreciation is concerned, that's anyone's guess. I see values going up, down, sideways, back up, back down and sideways again before they really start to go up, which could be another 20 years or more from now. Look at my 92. It is 25 years old and only now that the car has been killed off are the low to no mile examples fetching sticker or more. The 92' initially went for crazy money, some even well over $100K when new, which was nearly double sticker, and then they went down...way down and stayed there for over 2 decades. Now they have gone back up, but it has taken a while, plus what fun is having a Viper in the garage and not driving it. If you choose to hold it, you only have 22 more years to go to get back to square one.

I have 16.5x the miles on White 9/33 compared to your White 7/33 and right now I think at most you'd get $5k more than me on a sale. That's $0.32 per mile and at that rate I'll happily keep driving my car.

I say to hell with it. Got my ACR in Feb. Right at 8000 miles now. Just bought a new set of front tires, I'll be happy if they last the rest of the year. It's just too much fun to drive. It is after all a car.

95%+ of these cars will be "low mileage cars", even in 10 years from now

I think the value will go up mostly because it's a TA.

The T/A is holding strong. I got a smoking deal on mine at 91k new and they are still selling for that now with 10k miles. No Corvette could ever do that.
