View Full Version : GTS Taillight warping

I was just cleaning the car to cover it since I hadn't yet from the long weekend in Detroit. I just noticed 3 spots on my right rear tail light where it's warping, from heat.

Has anyone else had this issue? My only guess is from the 2hr parade from the Conner Plant to the Roadkill Nights, where brake was applied for most of it?

Easy fix, or I'm gonna have to buy new tail lights.

Thanks for any help and input.

I feel like I have seen this mentioned before.

Maybe the "murdering" is absorbing more heat?

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I'm betting it's the traffic and bulbs.

It is clearly exasperated by the film.

So put LED in them like I did.
Less heat.

Good grief those tinted taillights have such poor visibility during the daylight that they can barely be seen. I predict your problem will be solved when someone slams in to the rear of you and destroys your car.

It's definitely the film. I've seen tint film cause spider cracks in light covers from the trapped heat. Warping seems possible too.

Good grief those tinted taillights are dumb. They look stupid because of the color and have such poor visibility during the daylight that they can barely be seen. I predict your problem will be solved when someone slams in to the rear of you and destroys your car.

Very good point, I usually try to be more visible, not less. Have been ridding motorcycles for 40 years,,,,, that should say it all.
Modifying vehicles can be a lot of fun but not if you are downgrading them in the process

I've seen other Vipers with Darker/thicker tint and haven't had an issue, that I have heard of from them.

I don't need negative opinions on how it "looks" as everyone has different taste.

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this.

Sorry but its not an opinion on how it look because you are right, look is a matter of taste
The fact that tinting any light make it ( you) less visible is exactly what it is, a fact, not an opinion

Here's what my tint looks like.
And I've compensated it by running much brighter LEDs on everything inside including side indicators etc.
Had people drive behind me to check if it's OK and they say not a problem.
It all depends on how serious you are when you do it.
