Now that all of the Vipers have rolled off the assembly line, interested to see who got the last of the Special Edition cars. Last GTS-R, 1:28, Voo Doo II, etc...
Anyone one here?

I hear many of the SE cars particularly the GTS-Rs are all sitting hidden at VE.... waiting to gouge us on prices over MSRP once the Nurburgring trials are finished....

Those are all sold. VE does not have any GTS-Rs for sale, or storing anything for that matter. All are pending sold, there's 4 left. Unless the buyers back out, there is absolutely nothing at VE. Those are pending sold, because they're still awaiting transport to their dealership.

Are you sure about that? I understood differently. Just because there are no GTS-R's for sale does not mean that VE does not have any inventory that it has elected to keep off the market for now.

Call and ask. Spoke to the person that deals with Vipers specifically. He said there's no car they're storing and that all 55 GTS-Rs they ordered are sold. Only 4 are pending sales where buyers could back out. I told him there's a rumor online that they're holding onto cars. He said that's not true.

These special editions are gone ladies and gentlemen. I recently acquired too many sports cars and don't know what to do with them all, have posted and taken down ads for a variety of cars of mine for sale. I don't really want to sell, and keep flip flopping back and forth, but I'm lucky enough that no one has pulled the trigger. So far all my cars are safe with me. First world problems... Don't want sellers remorse. lol

VE intentionally has zero presence here because they are constantly bashed about everything under the sun. Bad Bernie did this........Bad Bernie did that......he didn't hold my hand properly.....he lowballed my trade in.......from people half of whom never even bought anything from them but think their trade in is priceless or he should give away Vipers at invoice. So anything you "understood" was just blather from other people who know nothing.

Lol, unfortunately I have, but posted 4 other cars for sale as well, don't worry, I'll come on this forum and get help from others to talk me away from the ledge. :D
Does anyone else feel a bit silly owning a lot of cars and watching them sit? I mean, I can't realistically put 600miles/1000km on each of these things every year. I do try to find every excuse to drive each of my cars.

To answer your question.....NO!
Keep them all and enjoy them when you can.

Amen to that. It has become extremely tiring to listen to all these snowflakes whine about some perceived offense or something they know little about (SE inventory, Nurburgring). I would keep my head down too if I was VE. Shame a few people are so critical of one of the big 3 dealers, each of whom have done more for Viper through the years than they could ever appreciate. I have purchased 4 new Vipers, the most recent of which came from Viper Exchange. I have only positive feedback to offer on them, but then I don't have any special sense of entitlement that gives me the impression I should be able to tell other businesses how to run their business.
Can we all just give the dealer bashing a rest and appreciate all of them that have helped keep the Viper alive for 25 years.......

For what it's worth, Bernie & his staff was awesome to deal with. Painless process. Would love to buy another from them.

Actually, yes. At a point sitting with five essentially similar vehicles, thinking that I would be able to spread my enjoyment around but it never happened. Unloaded everything but the one that I kept going to as my preferred ride whenever the opportunity presented itself. Going forward, I could see keeping the ACR-E as the special car and getting something else that I can use more often (like maybe the new ZR1 to replace my 2016 Z06 that I recently got rid of -- which was a great daily driver). I certainly do not need more than one ACR (as I'm not a collector for investment).

They are trophies of hard work (and some luck). Enjoy them. However, I don't feel silly owning multiple Vipers. D'Ann put it best when she once told me that that all her Vipers have a different personality. She said it was like having different kids. And that hits the nail on the head. As we have all seen, all Vipers behave just a bit differently from one another.

I am pretty sure I bought the last GTS-R from VE. I am also an FCA dealer and I still bought it from them. Why? Because they had something I wanted and we came to an agreement with my trade in. Trust me when I tell you I know more about cost and pricing and all that stuff so please stop bashing because you didn't get what you wanted. I was very lucky to have had it fall to me. Bernie had originally told me all special edition cars were sold. So I was going to make my own. Then my friend said he saw it on the website so I emailed and it was now available. It isn't some conspiracy some people change their minds and guess what, a good dealer is going to release a customer from an obligation to purchase and sell to another. I have nothing but great things to say about VE. I hope they smash the record and my wrapper car will be worth a pretty penny for my future child or nephew.
And no I don't feel bad owning two Vipers, I bought another 17' ACR-E to rip around and have fun with.

How exactly does one make their own special edition?

Keep watching. They will be selling them piecemeal for a long time, each being stated as the last available. And yes FCA sold out in 40 minutes (with nearly half to one dealer - surprise), before most potential buyers knew they were even available. Other comments about your vast knowledge and others lack of knowledge is so poorly placed.

I can help you put miles on your cars. I don't mind at all! I'll even pick them up and drive them back to my place for you. Save you the trip :Canada:

The fact is anyone could have bought a GTS-R at MSRP back when they were announced, just contact a dealer right away (Tomball or Roanoke) and put your deposit down. So anyone crying now about price when they are a few (if any) left really didn't try too hard.

I am saying I know how much cost is on one and I still bought it. I also should have said I bought the latest one since it was the last one they had on their website. I see exactly how many they have in the system through dealerconnect. I don't really care because it isn't my job to run their business or even do business with them if I don't want to.

You guys and your comments kills me. ;) :newbie:
Geez, it's crazy as a manual enthusiast the only cars out there that I'm highly interested in is the ZR1 and '18 GT3... There's seemingly almost nothing in the high end segment after these cars.
Scott_in_fl
08-21-2017, 04:22 PM
^^^ Yeah, did not realize how much the manual is responsible for the "fun factor" of driving. Maybe it's just because we grew up that way and the kids today will not/do not feel the same.
But, more and more lately, anything with a paddle shift is just a non-starter for me.

Ahhhh...I see. Still cool that you were able to get one though. If a dealer is willing to pay top $$$$$$$$$ for a car, that's telling. And you are correct...you didn't have to buy it if you didn't want to, but I'm sure the fact that this car is so badass left you with little choice :)
Surprised no one on here had the "last" numbered car for any of the SE cars. I thought for sure there would be at least one.
