Gts Windshield weatherstrip

Does anyone know a part number or the type of weatherstrip that goes around the G2 GTS front windshield? It's the piece that runs along the top and down the sides.

I wonder if it's part of the windshield i.e. it comes with the glass. Hence no apparent p/n.

that is correct Dave. It only comes attached to the new glass.... I just replaced a Gen2 windshield..

Side note to Gen2 Coupe owners. Cherish it, if you have a clean Windshield, mine had an small crack from road debris that was bothering me.... They are becoming impossible to get. And are currently back ordered (-20 in the country), with no aftermarket options out there. THEN,, once you find one... you have to HOPE they will even ship it (most places will not, ebay sellers wont ship it, and for good reason). I had ordered 3 from local dealer, before one showed up not broken by FedEx. AND its a $1000 piece of glass. lol

I would,,.. put in your inventory. lol .All of this stuff is going to be expensive and really tough to find going forward, you can see it coming.... Unless someone steps up and starts making re-pops. highly unlikely especially a piece like a windshield, that would require DOT approval,etc.

I wonder if that is a regional problem as I've seen multiple, fairly recent, threads with people having really good success with Safelite. One guy had 3 different pieces sent as the first two weren't perfect and the cost was quite less than $1000 even after installation. I want to say they were charged $600-$700.

Safelite simply orders them from a local dealer, and installs. As there are no aftermarket options out there... As of last week, the coupe windshield is -20 back ordered... And like I said... shipping is 50/50 if it shows up broken or not..

The RT glass is available.

You wouldn't believe how much of that stuff I've collected new OEM. Just waiting for all the whiny fools that said it would never be worth any thing, for their cars to start taking a dump on them.

I don't consider myself one of those whiny fools (maybe I am) but if you've got the rubber upper and lower hoses and are willing to spare with a set let me know. I have the Mishimoto Silicone hoses on my car and I would very much prefer to have the factory rubber ones. All I could find was used ones thus why I went with the Mishimoto ones.

I'll probably just find a T style strip and put a little epoxy down. I'll share results when I have it done. Thanks dudes.

Why? To save the weight, or have a hazy scratched windshield by the end of your first day of driving? Polycarbonate is yes, lighter than glass, but at best "scratch resistant." It will have an annoying haze to it almost immediately. It would be tolerable for a track only car but you would hate it almost instantly in a street car.

What do you mean upper and lower hoses? Which specifically are you referring to?

Only thing in the sell it pile is a set of used ones I removed from my '01 in 2007 with 24K miles.

As compared to the ones you just took off your car? How old were they? But yet you just took them off?

Just because someone removes perfectly good parts from their car and puts something newer on (for the sake of taking perfectly good parts off) that does not make the parts they removed worrisome.

I drive my car a lot in the hot south, so the 18 year old rubber radiator hoses will eventually leave me stranded. I wouldn't call 18 year old radiator hoses good parts, just like the original 18 year old tires I had changed when I bought the car were no longer good parts. I would agree though that if I put on an aftermarket air box, for example, I wouldn't throw away the original. There are definitely some parts worth saving.

I just saw this post as I've been knee deep in a diff rebuild. I'm a new Viper owner and had to replace this windshield weatherstrip on my 2000 GTS because it looked like someone attacked mine with a sander. I talked to Jon B. and the dealership and no one had a part number for this. Like someone has said, I believe that this part is included with the windshield. The dealership was supposed to call me back to confirm this but never did. I also called Precision (prp.com) who manufactures weatherstrip and they didn't have it but did their best to help me. I ended up buying their WFS D1186 weatherstrip. It is from the '90s Dodge intrepid. My thinking was that I knew that the weatherstrip was 3/4" wide so I chose a Dodge vehicle that had the same style weatherstrip and with the biggest windshield. I pulled the old piece off and used it to get the correct length for the new piece leaving a few extra inches to be safe. Going down the A-pillars will require some custom trimming because there are windshield setting blocks or shims that get in the way. You'll have to get some black urethane adhesive to hold down the top corners and tape them down until it sets.

Thanks for the info. I came across a NOS Mopar Windshield locally, but the weather stripping was gone. I ordered one of those seals this AM.

Who makes the Stanchion seal?...we need those!

I need to go pick my windshield up from Dodge and look to see if it came with the seal. It's NIB. No molestation. Should be whatever they should be.

Welcome! You sir are a life saver. Mine looks the same way in the middle! It's from an overly powerful car wash wand and getting a little too close in an attempt to remove some track gunk tossed up from a vehicle in front of me.
