Cool Aid Update Plus Cool Aid on 9L

Manufacturing the Cool-Aids harnesses has proved to be a little more difficult than anticipated. There are limited sources for parts and deliveries on small quantities are not always as indicated. Woodhouse and DSE will have a limited number available next week. The next release will not be for approximately 30 days.

I have put close to 1500 miles on my 9L with Cool-Aid installed. This has been in temperatures that range from 60 to 85 degrees. There have also been dozens of WOT passes. The data below is a comparison of the stock timing curve to the Arrow HC timing curve at peak torque. The stock numbers come from the HP Tuners published curves. The 9L Arrow data is from an actual log. Keep in mind with the Arrow log the PCM is probably pulling 2 degrees due to the coolant temp during the log. During these logs the ambient was near 80 degrees, the IAT displayed was 61 degrees.

I also took logs of air fuel ratio (AF) on several wot passes. The AF at WOT runs with a couple 1/10's of 12.7, except, between 5700-5900 rpms, it leans to 13.0.

I received my Cool Aid from DSE today so here's some quick observations:

- Well made, aside from the Cool Aid label you'd never guess this wasn't a factory wire.
- Install takes minutes on each side, super easy stuff
- On a cold start in my garage where ambient temp outside was 80* the IAT was reading 60*
- I did a quick drive and after the engine warmed up and heat soak started to set in at 65 mph the IAT was reading 66*.
- Returning to slow 25-30 mph stop and go traffic the IAT increased to 68-69*
- I returned home and let it idle in my garage for a couple minutes, IAT never went past 73*
- I never got on it but my butt dyno is already feeling the extra torque. It just feels like it wants to go a little easier at all RPMs.

Bottom line it looks like it's doing what it's supposed to.

Only thing I was surprised about was in the instructions it says not to use during road racing (which we knew) OR autocross. I'm surprised autocross is listed as that seems less taxing on an engine than drag racing is, it's brakes and suspension that get beat up. I still plan to use it during autocross unless someone can think of a good reason not to.

I would guess that below 70 mph (autox speeds) you'll be traction limited anyway.

Exactly, plus, some autox's do the runs back-to-back-to-back, the engine is getting pretty hot. we have done some 2-3 minute courses where you to three in a row, plus, waiting in a line.

They hook like hell for me road racing, but I'm not in 1st gear very often. Never done autocross are you in 1st the whole time?

I'd think even if you coated R7s in VHT, a 90 degree turn in 1st gear (autox) WOT will have you ass around in a flash.

If you are running R7's in an autocross you're gonna be the slowest car out there lol. They need to get to about 170+ degrees to get sticky. They are deadly cold.
A7's are WAY stickier than R7's, especially cold. I run A7's in half mile events with my 820rwhp Ford GT and launch hard with ZERO wheelspin.
