View Full Version : Gen II alignment specs better than the FSM specs for the street

Hey all,

On Monday, I am bringing the 96 GTS into a performance shop that is well known for doing custom wheel alignments. I have the specs from my FSM, but I am guessing there is something better at this point. This particular car does not see any real track days and is 99% street driven. The only thing "extreme" it will see are top speed runs on airstrips, so I am looking for stability at speed.

I have dug up these Woodhouse recommended specs form another thread, but I am not sure if they apply to a Gen II, as it wasn't specified:

Street:

Front camber -1.6 to -1.7
Rear camber -.6 to -.8
Front toe set at 0
Rear toe "in" .17 to .20 each side, the more toe the more stable.
Front castor I like 5.5 to 6.0
Rear castor I keep the stock setting by adjusting the 2 lower control arm adjustments the exact same amount when setting camber.

Will these be a good base for a gen II or should they be tweaked a bit for my particular situation? I would rather not blow through tires at half of their life, if at all possible, given that I still have the stock 17" PS2's that are made once in a blue moon.

Thanks!

That's definitely a good track setup, not something I would recommend running for a car that sees all it's life on the street. If I were you I'd do the stock alignment and add 1/8" of an inch of rear toe "in" to keep the tail end a bit more planted. See how you like the feel, importantly though, find out what the current alignment is before anything is changed, so you have a snapshot that you can compare too.
