I was back at Pocono again with Hooked on Driving Northeast to run the 3.5 mile Mega layout for the second time this year. It was an awesome day with a number of great friends from the club present either to drive or just hang out in the garage. Unfortunately I was feeling a bit ill, but the magic of adrenaline allowed me to feel ok in the car. I've continued tweaking the rake angle and dampers in an attempt to feel more comfortable over all the bumpy transitions at this track due to the NASCAR safer barrier installation concrete strips that bisect the pavement. I've been continually easing up on the compression and it really made a big difference - 8 seconds quicker than last time out and it was a much warmer day ambient!
I was in traffic all day, but in the last session it cleared out and I allowed myself one lap at speed to see what I could do while still playing it safe to end the day on a high note. I was able to run a 2:34 compared to last time's 2:42. I think a competent driver with guts could easily get in the 20's. Here's that lap.

We also ran the full NASCAR oval configuration which was a good time. At this point in the day I had gone too far with the dampers and the car felt like it was really rolling over in the turns so I was taking it pretty slow. There was a bunch of traffic to work through and despite this being the advanced group there was a lot of questionable driving and people refusing to give pass bys (they often seem to be in Corvettes for some reason). Eventually I think I pulled 167 down the front stretch and it wasn't even a full pull. Here's the video - lots of cool cars out there.

This last one is just moving through traffic on the road course. There was a 1000 hp GTR in front of me and it was interesting to watch it fly down the straights, but the owner didn't seem to have a great grasp of the proper line in the corners.
