:witless:Pretty cool (and satisfying). Just like the VCA who claim to be "quite viable" via their "steady flow" of 2014 membership renewals. (yea, I'm sorry for that - I'll just focus on our membership counter)

We have been getting calls from Viper owners who joined the VCA from September 2013 on. I had one today, a new member that joined in September. Except that the VCA did not tell her that the region she joined had already left the VCA.

So the VCA still took her money for a region that did not and still does not exist. Because of the mass exit from the VCA, the VCA locked out all the Regional Presidents from their membership portal. The Regional Presidents were not able to download their membership lists, and therefore were not able to contact any of their new members.

The Viper owners that have been effected by this are very upset at the VCA, and they are calling their credit card companies. What a shame.

It may take a little time with their cc companies to get their money refunded, so the VOA will keep these people on our email list so they are kept up to date with what is going on in the VOA regionally and nationally.

You must have a LOT of members to back-load? The counter did not change much when you announced the last/newest Regional votes to join VOA...Georgia, St Louis, SoCal, More...... I began watching only then, but not much # impact as I expected. ??

Are you saying that IF an owner joined VC in Sept onward, they wont join VOA? Or wont join til after a VC refund-chargeback? I suspected a LOT of dually memberships year # 1. [Like betting on Red and Black at the roulette wheel...... bases covered.] And many callers here boast that they joined both clubs to ensure the best possible discounts..... I don't think $115 matters to a Viper owner as much as some think.....

We just got the SoCal list this afternoon. They had collected everything except the members' vin numbers. Glenn and Stephanie have been contacting all their members and collecting the serial numbers for the last few weeks. Can't put the members into the system without the serial numbers.

Most of the people affected by what is mentioned a above will not join until they get their money back. A new member joins a club that is not there.... I think I would be a little hesitant about joining another one until I got my money back.

I'll never understand why folks need to trash other Viper owners.

If someone was trying to decide whether to join either club they certainly wouldn't feel welcome by what they see on the forums.

The bottom line is the overall Viper community has lost a LOT of paid members due to the actions of fellow Viper owners on both "sides." Considering that a large number of VCA members are members in both clubs the net loss in all this has to be pushing 40%, probably more.

I couldn't agree more and I'm doing my best (which is seldom good enough) to take the high road. However, how can we ignore the injustice that fellow owners (especially new owners) are confronting when they are deliberately mislead. I would feel much better with the "40%" sitting tight for a bit and enjoying their newly founded VOA region until they can make an informed decision, rather than ignoring the ongoing coercion of promoting Viper owners to join a non-existing region of the VCA.

In all honesty, where exactly is the high road? It's pretty foggy up here.

My take is this whole mess has been created at the national level by the leadership of the VXA. You can make great points for why one VXA club is more/less responsible than the other but ultimately, both leadership groups contributed in a substantial way to disrupting the experiences of the average Viper owner/club member.

I'd like someone to articulate how the Viper Owner experience at the regional level was impacted in any significant way before the national shenanigans spilled over into the regions? The "high road" here can and should be taken by the regional clubs. I'd suggest clubs affiliate with BOTH national clubs and keep their membership united as Viper Owners. There is no reason why regional members should need to chose which Viper Club to belong to. In this way, all regional Viper owners can participate fully with fellow Viper owners in their region without regard to which national your dues go to or which magazine you get (or both). The dues would still flow into the regional clubs and the members would have a more sizable cash balance to use for member benefits. Let the national situation sort itself out independently and stop the madness at the local level.

The only thing standing in the way of something like this is egos.

Sorry Dirk, but based on this post, your information base is SO severely lacking that it makes your opinion naive at best (and valueless at worst). I mean no offense whatsoever, but to respond to your request for "articulation" would essentially not only take dozens of pages of evidence and explanation, but would serve to do exactly what most are complaining about in this thread; stay the high road.

Anyway, the actual membership numbers and regions are speaking for themselves.

As I read this, it reminds me. I got out of an executive leadership meeting very recently that felt a lot like this - with a client I had a project that had steering committees, design teams, etc... things get rehashed, people with strong opinions will say they know better, etc... But the interesting pattern is that it repeats it self. It's a part of large group dynamics. Things always seem easy to rehash in hindsight and without all the information. There's also a lot that gets thrown out there, but isn't as easy as it seems - same goes here.

Dirk with all respect, there is a lot to this involving lots of people over a long period of time. I know things always seem simpler on the outside, but for those who have had such an exhaustive journey (including members), it's not a wound I suggest reopening. Because as you do, you will find many who then then criticize you back and defend - and it just causes strife. Let's enjoy what we have here, support it, and root for it.

One of the things that is so hard to do within a current group/business/club is to change culture. But when starting fresh, it's one of the things that actually comes a lot easier. Let the past be in the past. As much as I would love to get into all these details, that time is done.

SmoknTires

Dirk, that answer is simple. People can join whatever clubs they want, it's always been that way. now, having a region associate with a national entity is actually for the reason of not splitting up the clubs - It's to bring people together in smaller groups and then roll them up through a national entity so they can get their benefits. The suggestion you made regarding people all simply joining both clubs isn't viable for a lot of people - doubles the cost and the question of "why" comes to mind. It's not needed. The purpose of a national entity is to provide insurance, a professional front end (call center, website, etc..), magazine, processes, etc... and be the glue that keeps regions together and running similarly and in the same direction. It also provides a single unified voice to the manufacturer, and large groups always have a strong voice and command more attention so it's got those benefits too.

The interesting thing about the Viper clubs, past and present, is that they are so far beyond what most other clubs are. For such a limited run car we do some pretty amazing things and have a pretty evolved operation. This is because groups have banded together and under a national entity then focus their strength.

So all Viper owners can be recognized, but in simple form for the other benefits to happen, they need to pay membership dues and actually be a member. Simple as that. If you're suggesting they join another club and then we still provide some services, it's not possible and also has legal implications.

Does anyone have a feel for what is "more than 50%" based on last year's membership numbers. At least we could then say in our marketing that we represent the largest group of members. That may help new members make an informed decision.

I don't know about the 50% of last years membership... I think we are drawing more to the forums than ever before... Maybe people are watching, reading and maybe not signing up yet... That's yet to be seen.

here's the proof I offer to the traffic...

Back in 2011 I made a Viper owners map, I posted it a couple of times on the other forum... Had what I thought was a very significant number of clicks... From 2011 to a week ago the visits to the map with the link unpublished on Google...
Were up to 15,4XX from the old site... That number took 3 years to reach.

Then 1 week ago, Albert from SoCal started a thread here with the link to the map I started... I just checked the numbers... That map has had 27,621 views

In one week here... the clicks on that map have almost equaled what it took 3 years to reach from the old forum!

I think that is incredible

Hi Mike,

Tonight the system will reset and it should populate with the club name. I'll check it for you in the morning to make sure it worked...
As long as you logged into the membership portal, and sync'd your account... the member designation will show up correctly.

I'll check to morrow just to be sure.
