Okay everyone - it's back! Full sized TRACK DAY coming at you August 25, 2017
What's even better is this is Lime Rock's road course, on an UNMUFFLED day - NO worries about exhaust volume levels.. that's rare, so don't miss it!

The only thing about unmuffled days is that they SELL OUT QUICKLY! Don't wait to sign up for this one - jump on it now.

Big thanks to ACR Steve for working this out with the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). Their Northeast division is hosting us so we don't take all of the financial risk, and they will have some instructors available to ride with inexperienced drivers. We will have our own NYCTVOA area in the paddock where we can relax between run groups and talk smack and eat snack.

SIGN UP is through the NASA Northeast website - follow the link below, select Friday August 25 and enter the promotional code you'll be receiving in your club email. Look for that email Monday and again later this week also.

... not a VOA member? time to sign up to get the code and all the other perks :D

https://nasaproracing.com/events/2596

If you've never tried a track day before, please consider this one! Ask questions here if you're not sure. ACR Steve can answer any concern you may have about tracking your Viper and The Wizard can handle anything you need to get the car ready.

Hi Ed. Can you renew my membership and send me the bill?

nope - but you should be able to with a quick renew. If you scroll all the way to the top of this page, there's a tab for "Portal" Login there and your renewal should be cake.

Can't wait to see your ACR-e out at the track!!!

Stupid questions; haven't driven NASA before. HPDE isn't paced lead, right? Also, assuming class 3 in that respect would be intermediate?

ACR Steve
06-28-2017, 10:18 AM
Matt- nope no lead follow you are free to run but passing is point by only in group 3 and they will designate passing zones . Group 3 is more of an advanced intermediate group. 2 would be regular intermediate. There is no beginner group for this event.

Unmuffled days are very rare at Lime Rock I suggest us Viper guys take advantage of this. On regular days some stock cars are over the limit in noise

You will love it :)

I will be in HPDE with Viper and I will also bring the race car for the race that they will be having.

Amazing we have a great group going so far . Everyone sign up early this event will sell out fast. Not to many Un muffled Fridays/Sat at Lime Rock
If you don't feel like tracking your car take the ride up to see what I think is one of the nicest parts of the North East . The track is situated in a valley it really is amazing.

I once had a Formula Ford race at Lime Rock that was black flagged in the middle of the race. We all pitted and had to wait for a wedding precession to exit the church across from the track before they had a restart. So yes come on up Lime Rock is wedding friendly. Might even be a great destination for the bachelor party :) as long as me and Tony are invited

Do you have fresh brake fluid? Ideally some DOT with a higher boiling point. I've been using Motul RBT 600 lately.
Tires are in good condition? (age and wear), good meat left on brake pads? Fresh coolant? Bring some fluids in case you need to top off.

Make sure you lugs are torqued to spec; I'll have my torque wrench with me if you need it. Also make sure you empty out your car of anything you don't need to bring with you. Going to want to empty contents before heading onto track.

Not sure if you have an up to date Snell helmet? Assuming they can be borrowed or rented for those that don't?

I'll be bring a bunch of my hand tools and air tank for tire pressure adjustments.

Matt I may want to borrow some of your air if you don't mind though they do have an air station there, I think. I have no room in the ACR for an air tank, can just about get a jack, bag and basic tools in there. Third world problems. :)

So what hotel is everyone staying at?

NOTE: Stay away from Locust Tree Inn (no shower in the room) and the Inn at Iron Masters - has in-room showers, but shit otherwise.

Here is the schedule from NASA's event at LRP last September:

FRI: 6:45am Gates Open
7:00am Registration /Tech
7:30am Instructors meeting
8:15am All HPDE Drivers Meeting
9:00am First group on Track
10:35am Hyperdrive Registration
5:00pm Off Track

If they already know you or if your car is brand new, you may not need to do the tech at 7AM. Please discuss this with Steve. However, you MUST attend the driver's meeting. You can register after that, but there is not a lot of time to do so if you happen to be in the group that hits the track at 9AM.

You mean Saturday. I was thinking of staying because the weather was so perfect, but I needed a bit of rest because I have a super busy schedule in September and October - going to a track day at NJMP with Hooked On Driving on September 9th, then to VOA Lobster Roll trip September 14th-17th, then to a Bentley event in upstate September 29th - October 1st, then to a track day at NY Safety Track on October 8th, then to a 3-day track weekend at Watkins Glen October 13th-15th. Somehow in the middle of all of this I have to make it to Chuck's to change the oil, diff fluid, install rear camber plates and a diff cooler. Oh yeah, and while I am doing all that, I still have to work full time and take care of my family :).

Tony,

The good thing is you did not overheat them, so you don't have blistering and compound separation. In other words, your tires did better than Steve's :)

Looking at my crystal ball though, I see this in your future:

28200

I hope you can make the Glen - it's an amazing track and our cars are well suited for it since aero really starts working at higher speeds. A bit easier on tires too.

A big Thanks to Steve for hooking us up! It was a great time with all our Viper brethren in the paddock.

We definitely had great representation amongst all the groups. Guessing the average track time went up when Steve was out in the ACR :-)

The weather couldn't have been any better and was extra special to come back to the Viper hospitality in the paddocks. Everyone made it back sunny side up, so you know it's a good day.

Fair warning: Looks like the photo outfit (Wind Shadow) studios are trying to rip everyone off, charging $50 (yes, FIFTY BUCKS) for EACH high-res photo of your car. This is roughly double of what others charge and the quality of pics is not that great. Nevertheless, check them out.

Mike, I would be happy to do a ride along next time to give you a few pointers😀
I'll help you find that line and stay out of the marbles!

Dennis

Dennis while you were BEHIND me (all day) I saw you searching for the line. Did you ever find it? 😂

I have to agree with you. I thought I could get all my photos for $50 but the I realized it was per photo. 😮

It's highway robbery.

Next track day I'll see if I can bring our own photographer. Unless Lime Rock is getting paid under the table by Wind Shadow studios to not allow other photographers to some areas due to "safety reasons". I have seen that happen in a few places. Very petty and pathetic.

Dennis

Dennis, spoke with the NASA crew at the end of the say Saturday. They said that based on the "slow Red Viper" this year, they're going to create a new run group next, it's HPDE-00 just for you. :)
