Hey guys. Just got done with my heads/cam install on my 2000 GTS. Car runs good on throttle, just now trying to nail down some minor issues. The first is that the car will stall when coming off decel. Say you are cruising, let off the gas (still in gear) wait a few seconds, and then clutch in, the car will fail to catch an idle and stall every time. I've been working with Todd @ A&C, who I purchased all the parts from, and also tuned the car, and he said this was normal and gave me instructions on how to fix. He told me to slowly turn the adjustments on the throttle plate stops, opening the throttle in small increments, and then going for a drive, and seeing if it fixes it. He also instructed to monitor TPS voltage as I was doing this, and to not go over .80 volts as this is the threshold that the ecu will no longer sense an idle condition. Well when I went to try this, right off the bat my TPS voltage is at .80-.81 volts. Which may also explain a "Throttle hang" issue I have as well. As to not keep bothering Todd, I thought id post and ask, would anyone have any idea where to go from here? Is there a way to "reset", or lower TPS voltage feedback through some other adjustment?

I run mine at 20.4% - 80.4%. Which is 1.035VDC - 4.1VDC. Which is 1.065KOHM - 3.95KOHM. Out of a total upper span range of 4.89KOHM, 5.12VDC. Per my tuner.

My tuner also uses that information in my tune. Does yours?

Sorry. No video or buzzwords like *upgrade* in my post.

Oh. By the way. A couple more points.

* The reason I raised my at rest throttle setting is exactly the same reason as yours; wanted to die after transitioning to a stop.

* Also, the TPS will take an extended while to relearn "normal." Give it time. It will likely take many full drive cycles based on my experience with my car.

Good luck.

Hmm, ok. Ill ask again Monday I guess. Per his instructions that I have on voicemail, he said that tps voltage should be between .72-.81 at idle. He told me to slowly open throttle plates with adjustment screw in .02v increments, and go for a drive to see if it helped. He said if I get above .8 and it still was doing it , to "reset the tps and start over". I was confused by that last statement, and especially since mine is .80 to start with I wasnt really sure what to do. Ill ask about entering differerent TPS span voltages into the tune, Its the weekend and I have some time to mess with it, but Im not going to call Todd on his cell for a minor issue on the weekend.

Your issue is likely the IAC set positions and idle kicker in the timing if you are open enough to get idle hang and still have the problem.

^ Do you have a suggestion as to how to fix?

Yeah... tune it properly. LMAO.

Sorry, couldn't resist lol

You may also want to check if your throttles are out of sync. If your Driver throttle body is leading by too much, you could be outside the closed TPS range, but also have too little total flow since the Passenger throttle is completely closed, especially if the PCV system has been altered.

But in all seriousness, I have to draw the line at helping other tuners do their job beyond the basic stuff, and especially on the software end... hasn't exactly served me well in the past.

Yeah... tune it properly.

Ouch. That comment's not going to just buff right off.

Ouch again. That may have gotten you nixed from the A&C holiday greeting card distribution list.

Pretty sure it'll buff out just fine. Tweedle dee and tweedle dum level heroics here.

LOL... Pretty sure I dropped off those lists with multiple vendors when I stopped giving away the milk for free to anyone who asked nicely!

Or when I seemingly misplaced my filter :t0140:

Well this went a bit off the rails.

Nah... not so much. The answers to your questions are all in here. What your tuner chooses to do is a different topic altogether... it ain't up to any of us!

You have to read between the lines here. You are asking a forum and thus other vendors to help solve a problem that your vendor/tuner should be solving. Its a bit of a gray area. I for one would be beside myself if my customers needed to go on a forum to get problems solved relating to something I put together for them- that's MY JOB, and I am sure Todd will ultimately take care of this for you somehow.

I get that you don't want to "bother" Todd, but the reality of the situation is that you paid him to allow you to bother him.

^ Understood. I was under the assumption that the issue was a simple fix that I could do with some tweaking. And with that, asked for advice on the forum. If it is something more complex that must me done with the tune, obviously that is out of my hands and will look to him further. Ultimately was just trying to educate myself more.

We all have different approaches to everything. I build many big cam combos all the time. I like to make all mechanical adjustments first, then I optimize the tuning. Everybody has a different approach to almost every scenario. Many times you can tune out something that could have been fixed with a proper mechanical adjustment. So whether some feel it's the right or wrong way is no matter, it's just the way I prefer to attack it.

I used to work late nights, take calls from customers in other countries at 2:30 am. And take calls on Saturday and Sunday when I was giving my kids a bath. That being said i always go above and beyond for all my customers.

My phone is always open for a call. If I'm busy I may not pickup, but I'll always follow through to the end until any problem is resolved. Even when it's not related to any part or service purchased from me.

As far as greeting cards go, Dan is a good guy, offers lots of good services and I never have hard feelings. Everybody has their own approach, own unique thought process, and more times than not, nobody does things the same.

That being said, if you haven't fixed the problem, definitely call me this week when your ready.

I know where I would start lol by calling Todd and explaining what he told you to do and your results lol
