View Full Version : How Difficult to Change Seat Belt Colors

I was a little disappointed that Red was the only other option to order the belts with the car (red does not match my car). It would have been nice to have some other choices like yellow or blue.

I've searched around and found plenty of companies that can change the webbing and stitch it in to meet or exceed OEM spec. You send them the retractor and they install the new belt with your parts. Cost looks to be about $100.

https://www.safetyrestore.com/seat-belt-repair-service/11-seat-belt-webbing-replacement.html

https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/webbing-replacement/

So, now the question is how hard is it to get to and remove the retractor?

I assume the seats have to come out, but has anyone done this?

Some of the color options I've seen:

Great question, the only option I wish I had was red belts. Subscribed.

Haven't thought about it but I'd love some blue belts to match!

Would also like to switch out the black seat belts for red ones.

It can't be that hard. I've done it in other vehicles, never in a Viper.

Sounds like maybe we can put together some sort of group buy then. Although the service seems cheap enough that it may not even be worth the time to set it up :)

The colors shown are only the tip of the iceberg. I found other sites with colors that would match the SSG cars really well.

It's a small custom thing, but I think it looks good when matched appropriately.

I've been thinking about this as well. I have red belts, but would like to find something close to the Hyper Green color.

I built Seat Belts for General Safety about 25 years ago and we built about 3K belts per day. The seat belts in the Viper are held in place by a one TORX bolt and two Standard bolts for the harness assembly... just taking off the trim can be a bugger... I am looking for webbing that is Black/Blue with White stars and the I will convert!

I figured this was the closest thread to post this...

Did Dodge make a red seatbelt option for the Gen IV's? All my searches tell me "no," but I figured I'd confirm here.

I've gotten a few quotes to re-web my OEM belts and the price differences are huge to say the least. Does anyone have any experiences with these companies below? I wonder if this is a case of "you get what you pay for." Any experience out there with Seat Belt Planet or Safety Restore?? Thanks everyone!

Late to the party, are we? The colored belts really pop. Just make sure you plan for 1-2 weeks of downtime from the time you ship the belts to the time you can install them. Seatbeltplanet turned the belts around in only a couple of days, but consider ground shipping there and back.

Can some post a howto on removing the trim without breaking it?

Naaaw, I'm late to the party... just made my 09' purchase back in Feb. Thanks for the "heads up." I'll use the info you mentioned on post #8 on your link also. BTW, your ACR is georgeous!

I would recommend buying the repair manual. Here is a quick screenshot of the process in the meantime:

Congrats on the purchase! If you have any questions on the belts, you’re welcome to PM me. And thanks on the compliment! I actually sold the ACR a couple weeks ago, so I’m back to just one Viper :)

Yes! Had I known of swapping out belts previously, I would have done the same. That will look amazing with the calipers and stitching.

You’re welcome to PM me if you have any questions on removal. I’ve now done the install twice, so I’m pretty familiar with is.
