Hey guys, I'm back with another video. This one is our first drive video for the TA that we shot at the launch event at Willow Springs. For what it's worth, that's me in the car on track, we didn't use footage of any other driver.

I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Since I'm a racing driver, I'm going to lead with an excuse: I wish I had a decent video production budget instead of those two nickels in my pocket...

Very cool. And, it looks like you did well on your ten cent production budget - Video and music were both cool!

Thanks, guys!

Thanks - and it's probably negative ten cents after various costs. Music, on the other hand, is very graciously composed by a professional.

Brian, that was an exceptional review, and editing was top notch.

You really should work for one of the big mags. They could use your authentic, heart felt style. Too many jaded weenies in the automotive press these days. Drama queens like Johnny Leiberman. I'm serious. Keep this video review as part of your resume.

Very entertaining and well researched!

PS- I'll be tracking my Viper at Big Willow March 1 and 2. Cannot wait.

Very informative Brian. I now have more respect for the TA. SRT should train one qualified dealer in each region so they can explain the difference to customers by letting them drive the SRT and TA. I went to the dealer couldn't tell the difference. The dealers should atleast have an informative DVD. I would only let race car drivers sell the TAs.

Thank Brian.

Brian,

Well, you wanted feedback.

I would have liked to see more of the car given the length of the video. Open the hood...do a sweep with some close ups, detail shots. Interior sweeps, detail shoots. Hatch open....detail shoots. Just more static shots, different angles of the car mixed in with the running shoots. This while you are giving your feedback

I felt there was a bit to much of looking at you driving the car from the dash board angle. The presentation was well done, just wanted to see more of the car itself. Money shots

Otherwise. Very informative, good track shots, to the point and with the passion many of us have for these machines

Matt

Thanks, VENOM V! I appreciate your thoughts.

You're going to have a blast at Big Willow. Can't wait to see your video!

Don't tell anyone, but I occasionally write for one of the biggest English language mags on the planet, but it happens to be one in England: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/srt/viper/first-drives/srt-viper-ta-first-drive-review

Thanks, Matt. I agree with everything. That's stuff we're well aware of and comes down to budget for more bodies, and with my budget of negative ten cents, we were pretty much maxed out here. When my budget grows, we'll be able to make some pretty epic vids.

Would have liked to see at least half a lap, looking through the windshield or above the roof. Good review, I can tell you are a car fanatic serving as a journalist. Too common to find journalists pretending to be car guys (95% of Motor Trend, Car & Driver, etc...).

Very nice, well done. Thanks!! Cool shots, great info, maybe a few more fly bys, a hot lap, or some drama slides would be uber cool, but really great job on this.

Nice job! I have shared it with a bunch of people. In each case I tell them to turn the volume way up. The sounds are awesome. There is nothing that sounds quite like a Viper at speed.

I have been trying to absorb/sponge as much info as I can before buying that exact Viper...Thank You Brian.

I am familiar with the true-yellow pit walls at Willow, so I enjoyed seeing the Orange TA drive past it. Partly-sunny shots the TA looks Orange.... overcast sky footage at the end looks yellowish. Ive not seen one in person, and want / hope it to be Navel-Orange Orange!

Orange TA Owners: Did you opt for the ORANGE calipers? Or do you have Black calipers, Orange letters as in the vid?

I hope to see one in ILL next week.......

first two are as close as you'll see to its "true" color.

last few are like how stryker red is hard to photograph in some light settings

Jon, I wasn't aware that was an option. Would be cool if it is/was.

Calipers on my TA are a very dark grey with orange lettering. Don't think that there was any other option.

Thanks, 9. Wish I had more time that day to get that footage. I could have slapped my cameras on the car for another journalist's drive, but other than Erich, Ralph, Tommy and Jonathan, there wasn't anyone else I'd be comfortable with doing those laps on camera to demonstrate the car.

(You should see some of the footage I have of other journos soft-pedalling it around slow corners...)

Brian, Subscribed! I thought that was an excellent video ! For me, it was as professional as it needs to be. With the advent of Youtube, I am now able to get a lot of the car guy video fix that I used to subscribe to Speedvision for; but now online, and when I want it. A big difference now is, I can get more focused videos like this that probably would have never made it to a national TV show anyway, either because it doesn't have the perceived widespread audience potential; or, because it doesn't have the uber expensive production cost and "look" that some folks in TV production expect.

Thanks, Austin. I'm obviously not an owner, but love the Viper because it's really my kind of car. I've driven countless "supercars" that have been neutered in the name of so-called safety. The Viper is not one of these cars.

Thanks, Jim! We definitely have fun with it and we're working on budgets. Your subscription helps, but it's a lot of work to build an audience and figure out how to monetize it effectively.
