Finally got around to editing the footage of the install of my 185* mopar thermostat install with cometic gaskets. ;)

Hopefully encourages/helps others to tackle this job themselves!

i found the cometic intake gaskets but the part number for the thermostat gasket isn't pulling anything up, did you purchase through cometic itself?

Great video! Did you only remove the air intake before tackling this? Or did you pull some other stuff out of the way too?

Yeah other than the airbox and having the coolant already drained I didn't remove or disconnect anything else!

Thanks for the support! Time for some fun videos now with the car for a bit! :D

Another good Job. I assume you already had coolant drained for the radiator install. You should have drilled some holes in the T-stat for burping and fail safe;)

Once again thanks for taking the time to post "how to" videos on our cars when there is such limited info available on them. Nothing spells easy and diy like having a video to follow.

Another good video. Your gasket looked horrible. Mine was much better than that and yet I had the front bolt snap off in the block after soaking it in penetrating lube and shocking it. Sure wish I would have know about to cometic gaskets though before I did mine. I may go in this next winter and redo things with them as I used mopar gaskets for the intake and thermostat.

I also had several intake bolts that were pretty loose too. I'm guessing that may be caused by the heat cycles and the torque specs being so low for them.

Coolant temp sending unit failed on my car this week. Figured it will be an excellent time to flush coolant, replace radiator hoses, inspect radiator and change the T-stat. I'm also curious where you purchased the gasket from. Have you been able to drive the car enough to report what kind of difference it made?

Not sure if we can post links so I'll just say to go to viper specialty performance online store and type on "thermostat" into the search. It will pull up the Gen1 and 2 gaskets. Don't forget the intake manifold gaskets as well.

Dan Lesser at Viper Specialty Performance (http://www.viperspecialtyperformance.com/) worked with COMETIC to get a lot of these gaskets made. You can purchase them through him.

Get the pics back up on your How To threads then! Id really like to do the cooling/ side sill mods you did but some of the stuff you just need pics of to do it right.

Thanks!! Yeah coolant was already drained for my rad re/re. I have yet to have any problems burping the cooling system on my GEN II :D

No problem! More to come!

Yeah my OEM gasket was literally mush when I disassembled everything and was caked badly to the mating surfaces! PB blaster does wonders for loosening rusted/corroded components and its what I used. I wouldn't have been surprised if I snapped a bolt if I did not soak them several days before!

Temp gauge definitely sits lower than the original 195* thermostat when on the highway. My fans are not reprogrammed to kick in earlier so in stop and go traffic my gauge creeps up until the fans come on.

NP glad you enjoyed it! :)

Will do Steve thanks for the support!

Excellent video, thanks Boosted for helping out us "part-time wrench turners."

Thank you! There are definitely more experienced gurus than I but hopefully these videos can at least serve to show what some maintenance or modifications entail and how I completed it in my garage. :D

We brought all of these gaskets to market, and have a full line of available gaskets for Gen-1/2 applications available within a few days- ALL superior to OEM. We do stock most larger gasket packages, but tend to Drop-Ship smaller orders unless its urgent.
